Australia and New Zealand received initial supply of Pfizer-Bioentech’s novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine. Both countries are expected to begin vaccinating within this week.

According to Reuters News, Australian Health Minister Greg Hunt said on the 15th (local time) that “142,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine have arrived in Australia.” This is the primary supply, and Australia is expected to begin vaccinating Pfizer from the 22nd.

Pfizer vaccine was also supplied to New Zealand. New Zealand Prime Minister Jaeshinda Ardon said that day, “60,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine, the first supply, have arrived.” New Zealand will begin vaccination on the 20th.

“We have bought enough quantities to get free COVID-19 vaccines for all New Zealanders,” said Aden. “Everyone in New Zealand with or without a visa is free.”

In addition, he expressed his willingness to focus on vaccination, saying, “This will be the largest vaccination campaign in the history of this country.”

Both Australia and New Zealand have secured a large amount of COVID-19 vaccine against the population. New Zealand has about 2.5 times the total population (about 4.8 million people), and Australia has 2.3 times the size of the population (about 25.4 million people).

Meanwhile, the Pfizer vaccine showed 95% effectiveness in preventing COVID-19 in clinical trials.
