Blincoln and Austin, 2+2 diplomatic and defense talks on the 18th

As US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin first arrived at Osan Air Force Base in the afternoon of the 17th, the schedule of the US Secretary of State and Defense began to visit Korea. US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln is also expected to arrive in Korea this afternoon.
On the afternoon of the first day of his visit to Korea, Secretary Austin attends the Korea-US defense ministers’ meeting. Minister Blincoln will have a first face-to-face meeting with Foreign Minister Eui-yong Eui-yong at the ROK-US Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both sides did not schedule separate luncheons and dinners due to concerns about the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
On the morning of the 18th, the second day of their visit to Korea, Ministers Blincoln and Ministers of Austin will attend the Korea-US Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministers (2+2) meeting with our counterparts, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense Eui-yong Jeong and Defense Minister Seo-wook. The main agenda is ▲ROK-US alliance ▲Korean peninsula issue ▲regional cooperation ▲global partnership.
The 2+2 talks are expected to bring out a message for improving North Korea policy and improving relations between Korea and Japan. Furthermore, it is also possible to propose to South Korea to expand membership of the security council’Quad’ of four countries, including the United States, Japan, India and Australia, which have a strong check against China.
After the 2+2 talks, the two sides plan to adopt a joint statement including the direction of the development of the ROK-US alliance and regional and global cooperation, and hold a joint press conference.
