At the end of January, unsold homes nationwide, the lowest ever… 60% decrease in one year

In the aftermath of rising house prices, the amount of unsold homes nationwide last month set a record low since 2000 when related statistics were compiled. Compared to a year ago, it is rapidly declining by about 60% and is rapidly exhausting.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 28th, as of the end of January, a total of 11,130 homes across the country were counted. This is a decrease of 9.9% compared to the previous month (end of December 2020) 19,005 households. Compared to a year ago (43,268 households), it decreased by 60.4%. This is the lowest number since 2000, when unsold statistics were collected. The record low since 2000 was 17,324 households in April 2002.

The number of unsold houses nationwide reached a record high of 16,5641 households in March 2009 after the global financial crisis. Since then, it has maintained the level of 40,000 to 60,000 households.

The real estate industry believes that unsold apartments are rapidly exhausting as house prices and rental prices have soared nationwide in recent years.

In January, unsold homes in both the metropolitan area and provinces decreased from the previous month. The metropolitan area decreased by 12.7% compared to 1861 households (2131 households), and in the provinces, 15,269 households decreased by 9.5% compared to the delivered (16,744 households). ‘Unsold after construction’, which is classified as a malicious unsold after the building was completed, was classified as a malicious unsold, down 8.5% from 10,988 units delivered (10,000 units).

By size, the number of medium-sized and large-sized unsold units exceeding 85m2 was 637 units, down 9.0% from the previous month (700 units). Under 85㎡, there were 16,493 households, a decrease of 9.9% from the previous month (18,305 households).
