The corona19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca will start in Korea as early as the 26th. High-risk corona19 patients admitted to nursing hospitals and facilities and staff caring for them are subject to vaccination. Pfizer’s vaccine, which comes through Cobox Facility, is planned to be vaccinated from the medical staff taking care of corona19 confirmed patients later this month.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on the 9th that if AstraZeneca vaccine is delivered to vaccination institutions such as public health centers from the 25th, vaccination will begin sequentially from the 26th. Of the 10 million vaccines contracted in Korea, 750,000 (1.5 million doses) will be imported on the 24th. The next day, when the vaccine is distributed to consignment medical institutions and public health centers, a’visiting vaccination’ team consisting of one doctor and two nurses will inoculate the vaccine while visiting 1582 nursing hospitals and 3823 nursing homes for the elderly.

Pfizer’s messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccine supplied through Cobax Facility has yet to be inoculated for 58,500 people (117,000 doses). However, it is expected to be at a similar time to the AstraZeneca vaccine. This is because the government has prepared a training course for nurses who will be in charge of mRNA vaccination by medical institutions on the 16th and 19th. There are observations that the vaccination will begin in the last week of February after training.

The Agency for Disease Control and Prevention requested that first-line medical institutions identify the targets for the first vaccination. It is a medical staff working in 209 locations, including a base dedicated hospital, a hospital dedicated to infectious diseases, a hospital operating a treatment bed for severely ill patients, and a life treatment center.

Hospitals dedicated to infectious diseases and hospitals dedicated to infectious diseases, where public hospitals affiliated with the government and local governments such as the National Medical Center are the main focuses, are all essential personnel such as doctors, dentists, oriental doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, and medical engineers. Additional support personnel may only fit up to 10% of the required personnel.

Large university hospitals, etc. that operate treatment beds for severely ill patients can select inoculations up to 10 times the number of corona 19 treatment beds. At Seoul National University Hospital, which operates 34 corona 19 beds, 340 people will receive the first vaccine. Asan Hospital in Seoul, which operates 27 beds for severely ill patients, has 270 people.

On the 11th, the Agency for Disease Control and Prevention plans to inform the number of vaccinations and vaccination schedule by medical institution.
