[아시아경제 김희윤 기자] In the UK, 25 additional cases of blood clots after vaccination with AstraZeneca were reported.

According to major foreign media on the 1st (local time), the UK Medicines and Health Care Product Regulatory Agency (MHRA) announced that 30 cases of rare blood clots were reported after vaccinating 18.1 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

In particular, 25 of these were reported on the day of the announcement, MHRA added. In addition, in the case of the Pfizer vaccine, he added that there were no reports of blood clots after vaccination.

Earlier, MHRA announced that five cases of blood clots occurred after 11 million doses of vaccination last month.

Concerns about the AZ vaccine are rising as the previous view that the occurrence of blood clots is a specific case that occurs only in continental Europe is denied through this case report.

Norway and Denmark have already stopped vaccination against the AZ vaccine. France, Sweden, Finland, Canada and Germany do not recommend AZ vaccine vaccination for young people.

Meanwhile, MHRA emphasized that although additional cases of blood clots have been reported, it still believes that preventing COVID-19 with vaccination will be more beneficial than the risk of blood clots.
