At midnight on the 12th, the Chinese New Year, which was China’s biggest holiday, China’s national radio-television bureau blew out the BBC World Channel. “It broke the news principle of factual and fair reporting, damaged China’s national interests, and destroyed China’s national unity.” This is the reason for the disapproval of the BBC, which was posted on the homepage of the General Administration.
The UK was one step ahead of the TV station exit. On the 4th, British broadcasting and telecommunications regulatory agency Ofcom claimed that it did not have the right to edit the broadcast program and recovered the right to broadcast in the UK by the China International Broadcasting Service (CGTN). The reason was that the CGTN was under the control of the Chinese Communist Party, which is not permitted by British Broadcasting Law, and that it did not comply with the demand for correction. CGTN, which had been sent to Europe based on the UK’s Ofcom license, was also stopped in Germany on the 12th, Hong Myungbo reported on the 14th. It is possible that the transmission of the CGTN from China will be expelled from all over Europe.

China responds with a strategy of’non-fighting competition’

Broadcasting broadcasts are just the tip of the recent clashes between China and Britain. The UK revised the Nationality Act on the 31st of last month, making it easier for Hong Kongers who hold a British Overseas National (BNO) passport to immigrate to the UK. China condemned the British action and denied the BNO’s identity card function.
On the 2nd, the BBC reported the testimony of a Uighur woman that there was a systematic rape at a reeducation camp in Xinjiang. On the 3rd, the British and Japanese foreign and defense (defense) ministers held a ‘2+2 talks’ by video. At the meeting, the British side announced that it would send the aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth to East Asia this year to confront China. It was evaluated that it is reminiscent of the resurgence of the British-Japanese alliance signed against Russia in the early 20th century.

The British advocated a violation of the treaty by China on the grounds of offensive. China promised high degree of autonomy for 50 years after returning to Hong Kong in a “China-English Alliance Statement” signed by the British in 1984, but it is alleged that China violated the promise by enforcing the Hong Kong National Security Law last year.
China is in a position that it cannot admit the British claim. In 2017, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already refuted, saying, “The 1984’China-English Union Statement’ is only a historical document,” and “it has no real meaning.”
In the British offensive, the’Anglosphere’, collectively referred to as the English-speaking country, came to support. Australia called for China’s fierce retaliation after requesting an international investigation into the origin of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19). Canada arrested Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou (CFO) at the end of 2018 at US demands. The’CANZUK’ group, which bears the first letters of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, and the United States have already formed’Five Eyes’, which shares confidentiality. Except for the United States, all are British Commonwealth countries that belonged to the British Empire in the past.

Anglosphere is emerging as a global network of Chinese siege, coupled with the launch of Biden’s US administration, which puts allies and solidarity ahead of China’s checks. China protested. In November of last year, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Li Zhen responded, “Whether they have five or ten eyes, be careful not to get stuck in your eyes if they harm China’s sovereignty, security, and development interests.”
Anglosphere is expanding into Asia. India and Senkaku (Chinese name Diaoyudao, 釣魚島), which have a land border dispute with China, have joined in the “the Quad” framework. On the 9th, Gideon Rahman, a columnist at the British Financial Times (FT), argued, “When the United States seeks an alliance to counter China, the combination of Anglosphere and Asian democratic powers is the most promising combination.”
China is shaping a new diplomatic strategy against Anglosphere’s siege. It is an analysis that it has evolved from the’Do Gwangyanghoe’ route of cultivating strength and waiting for the time, to Lao-tzu’s’No-fighting competition’ diplomacy. “There is no one in the world who can quarrel with him because he doesn’t have a heart to argue with him.” Prospected from the Myungbo column. Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post (SCMP) columnist Alex Law also said on the 9th, “The rise of the dangerous and unresponsible China should be seen with the decline of the dangerous and unresponsible US, and the rise of the independent and active European Union (EU) after Brexit. “The summoning of Anglosphere is not a strength (of English and American), but a strategy derived from weakness and decline,” he devalued.
