The morning temperature in Seoul plummeted below -18 degrees Celsius. The mercury province of Daegwallyeong, Gangwon-do is below -24 degrees Celsius. Even the wind is blowing strongly, so the perceived temperature in most regions of the country is between -20 and 25 degrees below zero. It is the lowest temperature for this winter. An all-time strong cold hit the Korean Peninsula. In the case of Seoul, it is the most severe cold wave in 5 years since January 2016.

It is almost the freezer temperature at -20 degrees Celsius. In the midst of such a strong cold wave, the snow in Seoul and the metropolitan area, which caused the traffic disruption yesterday (6th) and yesterday, still remains everywhere, and there are still ice roads everywhere. Yesterday morning, there were some citizens who suffered inconvenience from using public transportation after leaving the vehicle due to an accident that caused the electric car to break down, but I hope you can move around without any inconvenience this morning. Please also note that intensive subway and bus dispatch times in Seoul are increasing today.

The momentum of the Arctic cold wave has reached its peak.

This morning, the temperature in Daegwallyeong in Gangwon-do was below -23 degrees Celsius, and Seoul plunged below -18 degrees Celsius.

It has dropped by up to 8 degrees from 2 degrees from yesterday.

Seoul has the lowest temperature in 5 years since January 2016.

As the strong wind hit, the sensory temperature went down to -25 degrees below zero.

The recent cold wave is due to the creation of a passageway through which the Arctic cold falls near the Korean Peninsula.

Along this passage, the cold air that had stayed in the Arctic came down and covered the air over the Korean peninsula, and in the vicinity of Siberia, the continental high pressure expanded, blowing cold wind.

In the west sea, snow clouds continue to form as cold air passes over the relatively warm sea.

In the last three days, 10-20cm of snow has accumulated on the west coast of Jeolla, and 61cm of heavy snow has poured out on Eorimok, Jeju.

Up to the day after tomorrow, there will be up to 30cm of snow in the mountains of Jeju, and 5 to 15cm of snow on the west coast of Jeolla.

When dry snow accumulates about 10cm in an area of 1㎡, the weight of 10kg is carried.

In particular, as the snow continues to accumulate and compact, the weight increases, so outdoor facilities such as green houses are likely to collapse.

Today, the temperature will rise little by little, but for the time being, after a cold wave below -10 degrees Celsius continues, it will gradually ease from the middle of next week.
