At 8:28 am on the 2nd, an explosion accident occurred while using a gas stove in a detached house where a couple in their 80s live in Uiryeong-eup, Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam. Police and fire departments estimate that the moment the old couple turned on the gas stove to prepare for the morning, there was an explosion. In this accident, a couple in their 80s in the house suffered serious injuries (whole body burns) and were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment. A fire department official said, “We are currently investigating the exact cause of the explosion.”

At around 7:15 p.m. on the 1st, the day before, gas exploded in a one-story house in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon-si. In this accident, one 44.3m² house completely collapsed, and some of the walls and gates of four nearby houses were damaged. Two people, including Mr. A (81), who were in the exploded house suffered severe injuries such as burns, but there is no harm in life. Five people, including neighbors, were transported to Gyeongsang Province, such as being surprised by the sound of the explosion or feeling back pain.

According to the police and fire fighting, the moment A turned on the gas stove to prepare for dinner, an explosion occurred. As the detached house completely collapsed, its fragments flew to four neighboring houses, damaging the walls and gates. It did not spread to fire after the explosion. The exploded house was also a household using LPG.

The fire department estimates that one of the 20kg household gas cylinders on the rooftop exploded when a gas leaked out and encountered a gas stove fire. The fire authorities set up control boats on the site and rescued people when the smell of gas spread immediately after the accident. In addition to the seven people who were transferred to the hospital, one additional person was rescued from a house whose main gate was damaged, but was not transferred. The police and the fire department are investigating the exact cause of the accident through joint identification.
