A conveyor belt accident occurred at the Kumho T&L plant, a bituminous coal storage company affiliated with Kumho Petrochemical, killing one worker in his 30s.

According to the Yeosu Fire Department on the 11th, a report from Kumho T&L in the Yeosu National Industrial Complex in Nakpo-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do at 8:4 pm was reported to the 119 Situation Room that there was an accident in which people were sucked into the conveyor belt next to the coal transportation equipment. The worker was found to have a cardiac arrest, the fire department said.

The worker was a machine maintenance worker belonging to a partner company, and was rescued at 10:30 pm by the 119 rescue team dispatched after the accident and was transferred to the hospital, but died. This worker went into the inspection car because the facility was not working, and suddenly got caught in the facility as the facility started running.

In 2018, an accident occurred in the workplace in which a worker fell from the facility on a coal hauler. At that time, after the accident, the company changed the job from 1 group per person to 1 group for 2 people, but the accident occurred again. The police and the Ministry of Labor are conducting an analysis of the device driving record and investigating the accident.

On December 11, 2018, an accident occurred in which a non-regular worker Kim Yong-gyun (age 24 at the time) was caught by a conveyor belt and died at the Taean Thermal Power Plant of Korea Western Power, triggering a discussion of the Kim Yong-gyun Act (Severe Accident Corporate Punishment Act) in the political world.
