An incumbent police officer who robbed the gold and silver room in Gwangju

An incumbent police officer in Gwangju broke into the gold and silver room at dawn, stole precious metals worth tens of millions of won, and was caught by the police under investigation.

The Gwangju Southern Police Department announced today (7th) that it is arresting and investigating Inspector Im Mo, a member of the Gwangju Western Police Station, on charges of special theft.

He is accused of invading a gold and silver room in Wolsan-dong, Nam-gu, Gwangju, at around 4 am on the 18th of last month, stealing 25 million won worth of precious metals and fleeing.

The initial damage amount of the incident was estimated to be 50 million won, but as a result of counting the disappeared precious metals, the owner of the gold and silver room is known to have incurred 25 million won.

It was revealed that Lim wore a mask and hat for the crime and broke into the store by breaking the door of a locked gold and silver room with tools prepared in advance.

In particular, after the crime, the license plate was covered to avoid the police investigation, and the closed circuit (CC) TV surveillance network was carefully selected and moved to a place where the crime was meticulous.

It is said that Lim, caught by the police, confessed to the crime.

The stolen precious metals could not be disposed of as stolen goods, and the investigation team recovered what Lim kept.

Lim was found to have committed the crime while suffering from billions of gambling debts.

The police, who suffered difficulties in the investigation due to Mr. Lim’s meticulous escape, discovered that Mr. Lim was hospitalized in a hospital in Gwangju after persistent pursuit, and caught him last night, 20 days after the crime.

As soon as the investigation proceeds, the police will review whether to apply for an arrest warrant.

However, the Gwangju Western Police Department, which is the agency of Mr. Lim, said that it is not in the stage of discussing job cancellation or disciplinary action because of not receiving an official notice.
