While Rep. Kim Byung-wook, a member of the National Power of the People’s Power, declared withdrawal due to suspicion that he had raped an intern secretary as an aide in the past, controversy over the interview contents of Professor Lee Soo-jeong of the Department of Crime Psychology at Gyeonggi University, a member of the Special Committee on the Countermeasures against Sexual Violence of People’s Strength.
In the interview, Professor Lee raised his voice, aiming at the victim, saying, “Why should I do’Me too’ but not?” It is pointed out that the’victim-centeredism’ he emphasized is an exception to the power of the people.
Professor Lee said in an interview with Newsis on the 8th, “It was a good thing that (Rep. Kim) escaped only with suspicion,” he said. “If the suspicion is true, the victim can report it now.” Professor Lee said, “Isn’t it unclear whether the victim hasn’t come out or not?”
Prof. Lee said about the allegations raised before the election. “That is why I have various suspicions,” he said. “If there is such a thing, but it is unknown, the victim can report it and go through proper criminal procedures. He said, “The by-election is short, but it can be detoured with some intention and only cause trouble by giving a tip,” he said. “You need to be very careful. Why should the victim do’Me too’, but why not?” It is strange that the allegations of sexual assault of Congressman Kim came up before the election.
He said, “If the relationship is correct, the party will have to apologize,” he said. “But, there is nothing that has been revealed right now.” Professor Lee said, “The case of former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon was a problem because a victim came out,” he said. “Isn’t this case that we can do anything only if the victim came out.”
When Professor Lee revealed his position on the alleged sexual assault case of Congressman Kim, accusations are pouring over whether the’victim-centeredism’, which he has always emphasized, is an exception to the power of the people.
Shin Young-dae, a spokesman for the Democratic Party, said, “Professor Lee, who was enlisted by the people to implement legislation to prevent secondary abuse of power-type sex crimes, remarked conspiracy theories in connection with the by-election over the alleged sexual assault of Rep. It is shocking with the second harming remark.”
Rep. Kim Nam-guk of the same party also said, “A member of the Special Committee on the Countermeasures against Sexual Violence, who should take the lead in protecting the victims who will be trembling in fear, did a second attack. The qualifications for the Special Committee on Sexual Violence Countermeasures are suspicious,” he said. “Is it possible that Professor Lee’s usual emphasis on’gender sensitivity’ is only for others.”
Meanwhile, the Justice Party responded to the suspicion of Congressman Kim and urged it to show itself as a party responsible for the power of the people. The Republican Party demanded a public apology from Kim Jong-in, chairman of the People’s Strength Emergency Response Committee.
