【Youth Daily】 Sony unveiled a new 4K production switcher’XVS-G1′ that combines modern architecture design with new image processing functions.
Designed for live broadcast production such as sports, news and entertainment, the XVS-G1 switcher is optimized for production of small and medium-sized studios, outdoor broadcasts, and mobile broadcasts. In particular, it realizes excellent performance and stability with a hybrid structure in which CPU, GPU and FPGA chips are applied together.
The FPGA chip applied to the XVS-G1 supports 4K (UHD) high-resolution real-time processing, a wider color space, and HDR imaging processing. It provides future scalability with GPU-based software processing technology.
“The Sony Switcher has been recognized for its high stability and robustness for a long time,” said a Sony Korea professional solution marketing official.
Sony supports modular software configuration by applying a GPU-based processing engine. This allows users to use the built-in clip player, 3D DME and enhanced multiviewer output as needed.
The XVS-G1 is the first Sony switcher lineup to offer an optional clip player function. It supports 4 channels in HD mode and 2 channels in 4K mode, and each channel can play up to 1 hour of clips.
In addition, it supports MOV or MP4 format based on AVC codec, which is commonly used, and clip backup is also possible in the built-in SSD storage. Users can easily and simply transfer clip files to the built-in SSD storage from the connected PC or tablet PC menu.
It provides various HDR conversion functions, and Sony’s SR Live workflow is also available.
The newly designed web-based user menu has a structure optimized for live production sites, allowing users to directly access the desired menu items. Wireless menu operation using Wi-Fi is also possible.
The four types of control panels inherit the advantages of the user-oriented ICP-X7000 switch control panel, enabling easier and faster operation.
The XVS-G1 switcher is expected to be released in Korea in the third quarter of this year.
