[아시아경제 강주희 기자] The court convicted the Open Democratic Party representative Choi Kang-wook for issuing false intern certificates to the son of former Justice Minister Cho Kook. Earlier, the court judged that all the so-called ‘7 specs’ used in the admission process of Cho’s daughter at the end of last year were also false. Criticism from citizens over the fairness of the entrance exam is increasing as all of the irregularities in the entrance exam related to the children of former Minister Cho are revealed to be true.
According to media reports, Seoul Central District Court 9-only criminal judge (Judge Jong-Geon Jeong) sentenced Choi, who was imprisoned for obstruction on the day, to eight months in prison and two years probation.
Earlier, CEO Choi was accused of falsely issuing an internship certificate to the son of former Minister Cho in October 2017, who worked as a lawyer at Cheongmaek Law Firm. The son of former Minister Cho submitted this confirmation to the Graduate School of Korea University and Yonsei University and passed them all.
Choi claimed innocence, saying that Cho’s son had actually worked as an intern and wrote a confirmation letter, but the court judged that the son of former Minister Cho did not actually intern based on the contents of the confirmation.
The judge said, “Combining various circumstances, it can be seen that the admissions officers deliberately misunderstood Mr. Jo’s career. There is no difficulty in acknowledging the intentionality of disrupting work.”
If a member of the National Assembly is convicted of imprisonment or higher (including suspension of execution), he or she loses his position as a member of the parliament, so if the sentence is finalized, Choi loses his position as a member of the parliament.
Professor Kyung-Shim Chung, the wife of former Justice Minister Cho Kook, who was handed over to the trial on charges such as corruption in the entrance examination of his children and allegations of private equity investment, is attending the first trial hearing held at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul last December afternoon.
A guilty conviction has also been made against a daughter who is corrupting the entrance exam for the children of former Minister Cho. Earlier, the court judged that all the so-called’seven specs’, which are documents related to the entrance examination for daughters, were also false in the sentence last month of the sentence of former Minister Cho’s wife, Professor Jeong Gyeong-shim of Oriental University.

The daughter of former Minister Cho entered Korea University using the relevant career and career certificates, and applied to Seoul National University and Pusan National University medical school (medical doctors), and finally passed the Pusan National University medical school.
As a result, some argued that Cho’s daughter should cancel admission to the Busan National University medical team, but Pusan National University has delayed the decision to cancel the degree until a final decision is made.
Former Minister Cho’s daughter is currently in the state of passing the National Doctor Examination, and on the 27th, it is reported that she applied for an interview at the National Medical Center as an intern.
As such, voices of criticism are growing among citizens over the fairness of the entrance exam. In particular, college students who took the entrance exam at the same time as the children of Cho’s children burst into anger, saying,’There is nothing changed in the conviction.’
Lee Mo (29), who said that he had graduated from a university in Seoul, said, “When I think of the time I had to endure and study for three years in high school to go to college, I get upset.” “I don’t know if there is fairness in the world because I passed the doctor’s exam and went to the interview with my resume.”
Another 20-year-old college student, Mr. Choi, 25, also said, “I can’t understand the institutions that accept them, not to mention the families of the Minister of the Republic of Korea, and even if it is illegal,” he said. There seems to be no one.”
Meanwhile, former Minister Cho and Prof. Chung are both being tried on charges of receiving an intern certificate from CEO Choi to help their daughter build specs.
Choi’s first trial judges that the internship certificate is false, and it is expected that it will have an impact on the courts of former Minister Cho and his wife.
