Five out of 13 employees of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) who are suspicious of land speculation in Siheung New City, Gwangmyeong were found to be in the second class, the manager level.

According to the’Report on Current Issues Related to Speculation of Land Transactions by LH Employees in Gwangmyeong Siheung District,’ which LH submitted to the National Assembly on the 9th, 13 LH employees from August 30, 2017 to February 27 of last year, have placed 12 parcels for 10 billion won. The purchase was confirmed.

In Siheung, 10 employees purchased 8 lots (17,995㎡) either alone or in shared form, and in Gwangmyeong, 3 people bought 4 lots (8,990㎡).

It is reported that LH had a large number of employees joining the company all at once due to the government’s policy to expand housing supply around 1990.

It was revealed that some of the LH employees who bought the land in Gwangmyeong, Siheung, had divided their shares so that the area exceeded 1,000 square meters.

There are criticisms that this is a trick to obtain a negotiated transferable land among compensation for large land. Hyeop-eui-transferred land is literally a land that provides priority to landlords who responded well to the agreement in the process of land acceptance at the level of appraised value.

Other land compensation lands are limitedly allowed as long as the resale is below the supply price, but the negotiated transferable land is exploited as a financial means because it is possible to resell the land without a price limit for one time only.

In addition, LH operates the’National Report Reward System’, where employees report suspected speculation.
