On the 9th, Seoul Superintendent Jo Hee-yeon announced the mid-to-long-term development plan for AI-based convergence innovation future education (2021-2025) at the Seoul Office of Education in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Students will learn fusion knowledge related to AI, such as the principles and functions of AI, social impact, and ethical issues in all subjects. Interdisciplinary and inter-curricular convergence classes and creative experiences are provided, and modeling and algorithmic thinking skills are reinforced in class to solve problems in life based on AI. In the case of science, mathematics, and information, which are the core subjects of AI, the quality of education contents and methods are improved, and links between schools are increased. In order to reinforce’AI literacy’ education, which is the ability to judge and use AI to solve problems, experience-based educational materials will be developed and distributed for each school level.
The Office of Education establishes guidelines for building AI classrooms and standards for holding equipment, and selects six schools every year to support them as’exciting AI classrooms’ that can increase students’ interest in AI. The cost of purchasing various teaching and learning materials, such as AI ethics education materials, digital literacy experience-oriented educational materials, related career experience and start-up related contents, is given at 2 million won per school. The’AI Tutor’, a system that supports data tailored to the level and characteristics of learners, is provided to students from socially disadvantaged classes who have difficulty in learning.
The Office of Education supports faculty’s graduate degree programs and research activities to cultivate 1,000 AI education experts over the next five years. Select 200 leading teachers who can support training or consulting, and revitalize the learning community of teachers.
Guidelines for establishing an AI-based safety accident prevention/diagnosis environment and introducing a system that can automatically handle simple school work, and safe use of data created by educational institutions through private, public, academic governance, etc. I am going to make it.
