Ahn Cheol-soo, the head of the National Assembly Party, who announced his intention to run for the re-election of the mayor of Seoul in April next year, carefully mentioned the possibility of joining the people’s power. As the people’s strength did not bend the intention of not joining the political party or election solidarity in a one-to-one composition with Representative Ahn, it can be seen as a dilemma that President Ahn presented. It is also a remark in the direction of responding to the demands of the people’s strength and worthy (participation) raised by some of the People’s Party.
In an interview with Yonhap News on the 23rd, CEO Ahn opened up the possibility, saying, “We can discuss” the participation of the people. Accordingly, Yonhap News reported that it is the first time that the people have expressed their intentions to join forces after declaring a run. In an interview with the Chosun Ilbo on the 24th, CEO Ahn said, “I must lay down the interests of each and find the best way to win other candidates, such as me, the people’s strength, and former Congressman Tae-seop Geum.” Kim Jong-in, chairman of the Emergency Response Committee, will eventually follow the will of the citizens who are the final decision makers.”
However, CEO Ahn said, “I want you to think about whether that is the way to gather all of the rational progress and the middle of it,” he said, and opened the room for negotiation.

Three Scenarios for Election of the Mayor of Seoul
Representative Ahn will run for mayor of Seoul, and there will be an argument over the method of selecting candidates within the conservative camp. There are three main types of methods: a party contest, a consolidation contest, and a sequential contest (final contest).
The party contest is a method in which President Ahn joins the people’s strength and joins the existing people’s strength in the party. This is the preferred method from the perspective of the people’s strength. This is because a preliminary candidate named Ahn came to the inside and plays the role of igniting fire.
The party contest is a system in which two parties elect candidates after being worthy. Even if Ahn joins the people’s power individually, the two parties have a worthy effect, but this is a picture in which the People’s Party is absorbed by the people’s power, and it is more likely to damage Ahn’s political status and leadership. Compared to this, the party competition is a method in which the two parties are equally united. At this time, even if the ratio of the power of the people is small, there is a possibility that the share of the party leadership will be divided among the people’s party.
Recently, there has been an argument to increase the number of non-delegations within the power of the people or to organize the second non-delegation, which is a criticism that there is a problem with Chairman Kim Jong-in’s leadership. In other words, it is unlikely that Ahn will share a stake in the non-confrontational system. It is more suitable for the scenario of recruiting influential presidents or preparing for elections such as general elections rather than recruiting candidates for the mayor of Seoul, but it is not a bad option for the in-party forces that are critical of the current non-capital system. From the standpoint of supporters, it can be evaluated as a positive scenario in which the conservative party’s extension is growing.
The sequential contest is a method in which the people’s strength first selects a candidate in the party’s inner contest, and then selects the final candidate through unification with Representative Ahn or Representative Ahn and former lawmaker Tae-seop Geum. This is the method that Representative Ahn would prefer, because the people’s strength is fiercely competing inside, while Ahn’s bye wins straight to the finals.
People’s Power From the perspective of the Mayor of Seoul, competition within the party is inevitably fierce, which is a disadvantage to becoming the final candidate. This is a scenario that will be realized when Ahn has an overwhelming approval rating compared to other runners, and it is judged that he cannot beat the passport candidate without Ahn.

Ahn Cheol-soo, who said he was going to the grand power, lowered his weight to the mayor of Seoul…
On the 20th, CEO Ahn declared that he will run for mayor of Seoul and said, “I will be a single candidate for the opposition.” Although he strongly denied running for mayor of Seoul, suggesting a challenge for the presidential power, as a result of the poor ranking of President Ahn’s recent presidential election and third place in the last mayoral election of Seoul, the approval rate of presidential candidates staying in one place, voices for the people’s strength and worth within the National Assembly Party, This is the result of realistic reasons, such as the atmosphere that CEO Ahn wants to run for mayor of Seoul within the power of the people.
From Ahn’s point of view, it can be said that the greed has been abandoned, but it is an atmosphere that has to be put down. Chairman Kim Jong-in devalued that day as “one of the candidates”, and Jaebo-seon Jeong, chairman of the nomination management committee, told Yonhap News that it is difficult to predict something like the’final race’ after the candidate for national strength was decided. Chairman Kim recounted the’participation contest’ he had emphasized so far, and Chairman Jeong drew a line in the’sequential contest’ which was advantageous for Ahn.
With Ahn’s declaration, the people who have not yet revealed their intention to run are attracting attention. According to a report from the Chosun Ilbo on the 21st, former lawmaker Na Gyeong-won told the Chosun Ilbo on the 21st that it was an “interesting development”, and on the 20th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hun wrote, “I will do my best in whatever role I need. The two have not yet declared their run for mayor of Seoul. It means that it is an atmosphere in which Representative Ahn is still playing a role in the election of a candidate for the Mayor of Seoul.
The mayor of Seoul, who is elected as a re-elect, will remain in office until June 2022. The 14-month mayor of Seoul cannot be the target, and it is realistically difficult to go directly to the 2022 presidential election after the election of the mayor of Seoul this time. Anyone should be mindful of the re-election of the mayor of Seoul, and from Ahn’s point of view, the people’s strength seems to be needed in the long term for the next presidential power. It’s still regrettable for Ahn.
