Dosan Ahn Chang-ho’s only grandson decided not to donate the data to protest the dissertation of history distortion by Mark Ramsayer, a professor at Harvard University in the United States, who claimed the victims of’comfort women’ as voluntary prostitutes.

The son of Ahn Chang-ho’s daughter, Ahn Soo-san, married an Irish-American and gave birth to an Irish American. It is to criticize Professor Ramsey’s thesis and Harvard’s follow-up response.

He told President Baekau, “I will end all discussions on donating material to Harvard in order to take into account what Japan has done to our family and Korea during the period of imperialism and pay for Ramsay’s remarks.” He then emphasized that “Harvard University is not a place to store our materials, seeing that it hides behind academic freedom and allows them to make distinctly misleading opinions regarding’comfort women’.”

Cuddy has been negotiating with Harvard University over a plan to transfer over 1,000 photos and documents related to Ahn Chang-ho and his mother. In a video interview with the media, he told the press, “Cancelling Harvard donation is something I can do to keep my grandfather’s spirit.”

After being born in South Pyeongan Province, Ahn Chang-ho moved to the United States and contributed a lot to the independence movement as the first generation of immigration. Ahn Soo-san was the first Asian female officer in the US Navy. After graduating from Harvard Military School with her mother, Cuddy served as the secretary-general of the Korean American History Museum in Los Angeles, USA, and has continued to work in commemorating the independence movement and supporting the families of independence activists.
