On the 25th, Lee Yeon-jae, safety management director of Korea Gas Safety Corporation, conducted a safety consulting service for a portable hydrogen charging station (manufacturer: Hanyoung Technochem), which is scheduled to be installed in the Ulsan Free Regulatory Zone.

This consulting was conducted as a preliminary inspection before the completion inspection of the upcoming commercially available mobile hydrogen charging station was conducted. And 19 items of safety improvement measures were conducted.

This consulting was conducted because it is the first mobile hydrogen charging station to be installed in Korea, so special attention is required for safety management.

The mobile hydrogen charging station is scheduled to go into operation after completion inspection in early March, with approvals at 3 locations in Ulsan city.

Mobile hydrogen charging stations have been expanded to include forklifts and other indoor logistics vehicles, from the existing hydrogen charging stations limited to automobiles. In addition, it is designed in a structure that can be charged after moving and parking several places by installing all containers, compressors, and filling facilities on one large truck.

Lee Yeon-jae, safety management director of Gas Safety Corporation, said, “To secure the safety of mobile hydrogen charging stations, which will be introduced for the first time in Korea, we will maintain a close cooperative relationship by listening to the voices of contractors and safety management sites as well as institutional technical support.” Through consulting, we will do our best to build a hydrogen charging station infrastructure that everyone can use safely and conveniently.”

On the other hand, mobile hydrogen charging stations have already been commercialized in Japan, and 39 mobile charging stations are operating, but it has not been commercialized in the US or Europe yet.
