[에너지경제신문 김연숙 기자] Korea Gas Safety Corporation conducted preliminary consulting for safety improvement for mobile hydrogen charging stations for the first time in Korea.
On the 25th, Yeon-jae Lee, the safety management director of Gas Safety Corporation, held a safety consulting service for a portable hydrogen charging station (manufacturer Hanyoung Technochem), which is scheduled to be installed in the Ulsan Free Regulatory Zone.
This consulting was conducted as a preliminary inspection before conducting the completion inspection of the upcoming commercially available mobile hydrogen charging station. In the consulting, a total of 26 facility standards and 19 safety improvement measures were conducted, including review of safety facility layout optimization, △ securing safety around charging facilities △ removing accident-causing factors △ providing safety management improvement measures.
Mobile hydrogen charging stations were approved at three locations in Ulsan. It is scheduled to go into operation after undergoing a completion inspection early next month.
The mobile hydrogen charging station has been extended to indoor logistics transport vehicles such as forklifts from the fact that the charging target of the existing hydrogen charging station is limited to automobiles, and is significant in terms of activating the hydrogen economy. It is designed in a structure that can be charged after moving and parking several places by installing all containers, compressors, and filling facilities on one large truck.
Mobile hydrogen charging stations have already been commercialized in Japan, and about 39 mobile charging stations are in operation. However, it was investigated that commercialization has not yet reached in the United States or Europe, including Korea.
Lee Yeon-jae, safety management director of Gas Safety Corporation, said, “We will maintain a close cooperative relationship by listening to the voices of installers and safety management sites, as well as institutional and technical support for securing the safety of the mobile hydrogen charging station that will be introduced for the first time in Korea.” “We will do our best to build a hydrogen charging station infrastructure that can be safely and conveniently used by all citizens through prior consulting.”
