Actor Chae Min-seo (real name Jo Su-jin, 40) was sentenced to probation from imprisonment even at the appeal court for an accident in which he was drunk and drove backwards on a one-way road.
Section 5-3 of the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Affairs Office (Judge Lee Kwan-hyung Choi Byung-ryul, deputy judge Yoo Seok-dong) sentenced Chae Min-seo, who was charged with drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act, to eight months in prison and two years of probation. The first trial ordered 40 hours of compliance driving lectures and 120 hours of social service, while the appeals court kept only the compliance driving lecture order.
Chae Min-seo was handed over to my trial in an accident where he hit another car while driving backwards on a one-way street in Gangnam, Seoul while drunk at 6 am on March 26, 2019.
There is also a charge of hitting another car that was stopped at the time and injuring the other driver.
The first trial court admitted Chae Min-seo’s allegations of drunk driving and the charges of injuries under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling as guilty, but the court of appeals trial turned over the charges of injuries, saying that the fact that the victim was injured was not sufficiently proven.
The judge said, “Even though the victim does not have a special pain, he has been issued a medical certificate from an oriental medical doctor saying that he needs treatment for 2 weeks and submitted it as a data.” It’s hard to say that it’s been proven enough to wear it.”
Regarding the alleged drunk driving, the court pointed out that “there has been a record of being punished for drunk driving three times in the past,” and said, “However, we take into account the fact that the accused is reflecting on the crime and the blood alcohol concentration was not very high due to’hangover driving’.” The sentencing background was explained.
Chae Min-seo has been punished for drunk driving three times, including receiving a summary order of fines respectively in 2012 and 2015.
Chae Min-seo debuted in the movie’Champion’ (2002) and made his face public, and appeared in dramas’Ja Myung-go’ and’I don’t know a woman’.
