Academia “Along with a huge tsunami, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake may come”

After the earthquake that occurred in the Fukushima area two days ago, the Japanese government’s investigation committee said it was lucky that the damage was small. Like ten years ago, we analyzed that a major earthquake accompanied by a tsunami could return.

The traces of the urgent earthquake two days ago remain on the exterior walls of the building.

The concrete inside the building is visible and even the steel frame is exposed.

All of the windows were broken by the impact of the earthquake, but now the temporary wall is made of wooden planks.

However, in case of further damage, pedestrian traffic is restricted.

It rained in the morning in Fukushima Prefecture, and secondary damage was a concern.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said the earthquake could weaken the ground and cause additional damage such as landslides if heavy rain or heavy snow falls.

Insecure about the aftershocks, residents took refuge in shelters.

When the Shinkansen was stopped, it was difficult to find an empty room in hotels near the station due to citizens who could not obtain transportation.

The Japan Earthquake Investigation Committee predicted that the aftershocks of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake will continue for another 10 years.

It was also said that the earthquake was lucky, so the damage was minimal.

Professor Shinji Toda of Tohoku University said, “There is a possibility that an earthquake accompanied by a tsunami may occur due to the influence of a massive earthquake of 9.0.”

He warned that the nightmare of the Great East Japan Earthquake 10 years ago could be repeated.
