A professorship with guaranteed retirement age is the object of envy of many, but it seems that Liz Glazer, 41, was not. After earning a master’s degree in philosophy, he went to law school at Hofstra University in New York, and was a professor at Northwestern University in Chicago. Instead, the job he chose was a comedian. Although he was guaranteed until his retirement as a law school professor, he said goodbye to a comfortable life and stood on the stage. Because I wanted to be a funny person. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) interviewed Glazer on the 7th (local time), who became a stand-up comedian who laughed and cried at the audience on stage alone.

He won first place at the Boston Comedy Festival in the United States last December. He told WSJ, “I felt a lot more joy when I decided to quit than when I got tenure at college,” he said. “It was an emotion I hadn’t felt before.”

Glaser’s dream of becoming a comedian was a trivial moment. Not long after I was hired as a law school professor, I heard a word from one of my colleagues, “Every time I passed your classroom, there was a sound of laughter.” In fact, he was known as one of the funniest professors in the school. At the time, Glaser jokingly replied, “I hope the school doesn’t think badly,” but he realized that he was delighted to make people laugh.

Four years later, Glaser took an ad-lib comedy class and studied in earnest. At that time, he recalled, “I just wanted to do something fun that had nothing to do with my goal.” It was three years later that I was on stage. While returning to his full-time job and working as a visiting professor at Northwestern University in Chicago, he stumbled upon a lecturer who taught him a comedy class. He invited him, “Would you like to go out when there is a stand-up comedy event a few days later,” and Glaser decided to participate after contemplating.

On the day of the show, Glaser improvised a gig to laugh at the audience, pulling out items one by one from a box where he didn’t know what was heard. The moment he was greeted by the audience, he said that he felt “this is my new life.” Later, he quit the professor and immersed himself in the performance of the stand-up comedy’Open Mic Night’ held all over New York.

In an interview, Glaser said that he was raised in a family far from what he called’Tantara’. He grew up with parents who grew up with Jewish grandparents who were Holocaust survivors. Growing up as a conservative Jew who strictly obeys the law, he completed his master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania, and went on to law school at the University of Chicago. After graduating, he worked in real estate for an international law firm on Wall Street.

He has already done new challenges many times, but there are still many things he wants to achieve. I am also taking acting classes, stimulated by other comedians who have studied acting. He appeared as a reporter in the court drama’For Life,’ which aired on ABC in the United States last year. He has lectured in universities and synagogues.

As a’god of ex’, he advises many who are contemplating career paths and careers.

“If your colleagues are happy, but you are not happy, you have to think about your new path. When thinking about the next chapter in your life, the method is simple. Find joy you have never felt before.”
