In Korea, another case of thrombosis was diagnosed after vaccination with AstraZeneca (AZ).

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team announced on the 7th that a blood clot was confirmed and being treated in a woman in her 20s working at a medical institution who received the Astra vaccine. This is the third case of reporting thrombosis after Astra vaccination.

According to the promotion team, the female patient in her 20s was vaccinated on the 17th of last month. On the 29th of last month, 12 days later, he complained of the symptoms of breathing and received medical treatment, and a blood clot was confirmed at this time. Currently, the patient is being treated and his condition has improved, the authorities explained. The woman’s underlying disease is being investigated.

On the 6th, the AFP news agency reported that a senior official at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said there was a link between the Astra vaccine and the side effects of blood clots.

The number of suspected adverse reactions to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine reported to the health authorities increased to 11,215 cases in total.

According to the Central Defense Countermeasure Headquarters (Bangdaebon) on the 7th, 74 new cases were received as adverse reactions after vaccination as of 0:00 the previous day.

Since vaccination started on February 26, there have been a cumulative 11,215 reports of suspected adverse reactions. This is 1.05% of the 1st and 2nd cumulative inoculations in Korea (as of 0 o’clock on this day) of 107,2480.

Among them, AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine-related cases accounted for 10,674 cases, accounting for 95.2% of all reports. There were 541 cases (4.8%) related to Pfizer vaccine. This is explained by the fact that there are more than four times more AZ vaccines than Pfizer. The reporting rate of adverse reactions compared to those inoculated is 1.20% for AZ vaccine and 0.29% for Pfizer.

Two of the reporters of adverse reactions died on that day. A man in his 90s who received the AZ vaccine on the 5th died 19 hours after the vaccination. A man in his 90s who received the Pfizer vaccine on the 2nd died 21 hours later. All are patients with underlying diseases, and the quarantine authorities are investigating the causality between vaccination and death.

One new suspected case of’anaphylaxis’, a severe systemic allergic reaction, was also added. The subject of the case was an AZ vaccine recipient, and the quarantine authorities will evaluate whether there is a causal relationship with the vaccine through an epidemiological investigation in the future.

10,147 cases, which account for 98.5% of all adverse reaction reports, were mild cases with symptoms such as muscle pain, headache, fever, and nausea.
