A truck’bang’ on the Taiwan train that was running… 200 people were once trapped in fear

Taiwanese media reported that they were once waiting for rescue while 200 passengers were trapped in a carriage that had become severely deformed by the shock immediately after the accident.

Passengers trapped in the train clamored in surprise and shock as they knocked on the train with objects and asked for rescue, and some explained the urgent situation that they had broken windows and escaped by themselves and helped other passengers to escape.

The passengers who managed to get out of the fearful vehicle hurried out into the cramped space of the tunnel where the train stopped.

NEXT TV, a local Taiwanese media outlet, said that the accident caused the death of a one-year-old engineer Yuan Mo (袁, 33), who had been married, and caused regret.

Earlier, the Taiwan Railroad Authority (TRA)’s Tyruger 408 train derailed inside the Qingshui Tunnel in Eastern Hualien at 9:28 am on the same day.

The Tyruger train is the fastest train to the eastern part of Taiwan, with a top speed of 130 km/h.

“I felt the brakes are working in the midst of a sudden shock,” said Mo Lee, the train manager.

Taiwanese media reported that the truck driver, who was working on the top of the railroad track close to the tunnel, left the seat without properly filling the side brakes.

It is known that in addition to the firefighting authorities already put into the accident site, soldiers and lighting equipment belonging to the second operation zone under the Defense Command Department in Eastern Hualien and Taitung are known to be put in.

Earlier, in late October 2018, the’Puyuma’ train derailed in Yilan County in eastern Taiwan, resulting in more than 200 casualties.
