A series of US Asian crimes… Black men with iron rods raided Korean convenience stores

American society’s hate crimes against Asians are continuing. As if trying to hand over responsibility for the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) to Asians, the damage of Korean-Americans continues. It was later known that a Korean convenience store in the city center was attacked in broad daylight in the middle of the week, and that a couple of Koreans who were taking a walk were ambushed by a teenager and suffered serious injuries.

On the 30th of last month, Javier Lassi Udysillas broke into a Korean-American convenience store in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina, and was in a riot with an iron rod. Charlotte Observer Capture

Black man with iron rod attacks Korean convenience store in broad daylight

A Korean-owned convenience store in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, was attacked by a black man holding an iron rod on the afternoon of the 30th of last month, the local media Charlotte Observer reported. The suspect shouted, “The Chinese should return to your country,” and destroyed the store’s property. It’s a typical hate crime.

The closed circuit (CC) TV video of the incident showed a black man holding an iron rod and wielding it into the store. He pulled over the case with his hand and knocked it down on the refrigerator. The suspect was arrested at the scene while taking an energy drink out of the refrigerator he smashed.

Police officers in charge of the case, Charlotte McLenberg, said they had arrested the suspect Javier Lassi Udysilas, 24, for armed robbery, intimidation, and interfering with official affairs. It is also considering how to apply the hate crime clause. Woody Silas has been arrested three times this year, according to local media Fox26.

Mark Seong, the son of the store owner, told Charlotte Observer, “This is not the first time this kind of incident has occurred. That’s right, I was admitted to the hospital.” He added, “At least once a year, the store is messed up, resulting in a loss of 9,000 dollars (about 1,02 million won),” he added.

It was also revealed that a presumed Korean couple in their 50s was brutally assaulted by a teenager in their 50s. CNN reported on the 3rd that the Tacoma Police in Washington state arrested a 15-year-old boy for assaulting an Asian couple on November 19 last year and charged with second-degree assault. As the video of the assault scene at that time spread in the social network service (SNS) recently, the ripples increased, and the suspect seems to have been arrested belatedly.

According to the video released at the time, a woman who appears to be a wife shouted “Don’t do it” or “Help me” in Korean, and other youth watched it from the side. It is known that a man among the victims of this incident was injured, such as a fractured rib and bruising on his face.

In an interview with the local media KIRO7, the victim said, “I think I was assaulted because I was an old and small Asian,” emphasizing the possibility of hate crimes. The victim also said, “I forgive the perpetrators,” and said, “I want to properly investigate the case of violence targeting Asians.” Police said, “The victims have never seen the perpetrators, and there have been no quarrels.”
