Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il explained the current situation of Corona 19 response at the briefing room of Jinju City Hall on the afternoon of the 22nd, and said, “There was a matter reported by Sugok-myeon employees violating the quarantine rules and violating public service discipline.
According to the city of Jinju, five employees of the Sugok-myeon office ate with one resident at a restaurant in Sinan-myeon, Sancheong on the 19th during lunch time. This is a violation of the quarantine rules’prohibition of gathering more than 5 people’ and is being investigated by the Gyeongnam Province Audit Committee.
Jinju City asked for responsibility for violations of the quarantine regulations for the three team leaders responsible for management and supervision, and took the position system, and the remaining two employees requested a letter of confirmation to prevent recurrence.
Mayor Cho said, “As the mayor, we deeply apologize for the disappointment of some of our employees due to the behavior that caused social criticism during the severe period of corona 19 social distancing.”
Mayor Cho said, “This incident is an opportunity to criticize citizens and reduce the morale of numerous public officials. “We will apply the principle of zero tolerance for violations of service, such as violations, unauthorized attendance at working hours, and false business trips, and will be strictly reprimanded.”
Mayor Cho added, “In the future, we will try to avoid cases of violation of public service discipline and quarantine rules, such as social distancing and prohibition of private meetings with more than 5 people through intensive supervision and employee training.”
Jinju City said, “For the time being, we ask for the active cooperation of citizens in the banning measures for private gatherings of 5 or more people, such as refraining from visiting other areas for the time being and avoiding going out and meetings except for essential business.” Accordingly, a fine of 100,000 won per person and less than 3 million won is imposed on the owner.
