“I would like to share the side effects of my husband who received the corona vaccine.”

On the 1st, a Chinese netizen posted a photo on Weibo with red spots on the bottom of his armpits, saying that it was a side effect that her husband suffered after getting the Corona 19 vaccine. This netizen, who writes the ID “forever, protects you”, said, “My husband and I are not allergic, and we have not suffered hypersensitivity to any object, and there have been very few illnesses.”

According to the post, the couple, who live in Tongzhou, a new city east of Beijing, were given the Sinofam vaccine developed in China on February 17th. As prescribed, the 30-minute observation period after vaccination did not show any side effects, so he returned home. However, on the 23rd of the same month, several’red spots’ appeared on her husband’s body. On the 24th, a high fever over 38.5℃ started and the spots also increased. I took hives medication, but the fever didn’t go down. From the 27th, joint pain increased. When they couldn’t sleep, the couple visited Luhe, affiliated with the Metropolitan Medical University.

The emergency room doctor recommended to see a dermatologist the next day. On the 28th, he had a blood test, a nucleic acid test, a CT test, and a biochemical test. All results were negative. Doctors did not say it was a vaccine allergy (hypersensitivity reaction), but said the possibility could not be ruled out. He then said to wait for his symptoms to improve.

The netizen claimed that some children at the time had the same symptoms as their husband after vaccination at a dermatologist. They also complained that the hospital did not actively test for side effects of the vaccine.

About 1,800 comments were posted on the social media post. The opinion of “it is only allergic” and the reaction of “anxiety” collide and debate also arose. “If it was really because of the vaccine, your husband saved his life. If he had a real coronavirus, he would become a serious patient and lose his life.” There were 999 cases of’Like’ in the vaccine advocacy theory. However, there have also been 400 rebuttal comments indicating anxiety about the vaccine.

In China, 52 million vaccinations were done by the end of February. However, the vaccination rate is still only 3.56%, which is slow compared to the US (22%).
