“A new outbreak begins”… Busan Haeterak Nursing Hospital 4 confirmed again

In October, four confirmed patients came out again at Haetrak Nursing Hospital in Buk-gu, Busan, where the outbreak of a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) occurred. The health authorities explained that the infection at Haetrak Nursing Hospital was the beginning of a new infection, not an extension of last October.

The Busan City Health Authority announced on the 29th that as a result of examining 1862 suspected patients the previous day, 31 (1748-1778) were positive. Of these, three were two patients and one nurse at the Hauterak Nursing Hospital in Buk-gu, whose group infection occurred in October and the same group quarantine (cohort quarantine) was lifted on November 3.

Earlier, a caregiver (No. 1749) at Haetrak Nursing Hospital had a fever on the 27th, and was tested and confirmed on the 28th. One family member of this caregiver was also confirmed on the 29th. Two patients and one nurse are believed to have been infected by the caregiver, health officials said. As a result, the number of confirmed cases related to Haetrak Nursing Hospital increased to five.

In the Haetrak Nursing Hospital, where there were confirmed cases from October 13, the cumulative number of confirmed cases increased to 91 as five related cases occurred again this month. Currently, Haetrak Nursing Hospital has 134 inpatients and 83 employees.

On the 29th, an additional one was confirmed at Inchang Nursing Hospital and two at Cheil Nara Nursing Hospital. The number of related confirmed cases increased to 147 (130 patients, 15 staff, 12 carers) at Inchang Nursing Hospital, and 45 people at Cheil Nara Nursing Hospital (32 patients, 11 staff, and 2 contacts). On this day, there are two confirmed cases in two elderly welfare facilities, raising concerns that a new group infection will occur. Most of the remaining confirmed cases were identified as family members or acquaintances of the existing confirmed cases.

In Busan, dozens of patients a day occur on the 36th day from the 24th of last month. The number of confirmed cases is seldom fading as the infection reproductive index is rising and falling below 1.
