As the business of indoor sports facilities was restricted to prevent the spread of Corona 19, movements against quarantine prevention are intensifying, mainly among business owners suffering from livelihoods.

About 50 business owners who operate bowling alleys in Busan gathered in the lobby of Busan City Hall on the 7th to protest the quarantine authorities’ policy of restricting business. They argued, “The quarantine guidelines that restrict business to specific industries are not fair.” Bowling alleys have also extended the ban on groups targeting indoor sports facilities from the 4th.

The situation is similar for owners of indoor sports facilities in other industries. A director, who is running a gym in Geumjeong-gu, Busan, has violated an order prohibiting gatherings and resumed business on the 4th. He explained that there was no income and only fixed expenses such as rent continued to be paid, and he was forced to be pushed to the edge of the cliff. Members of the Pilates and Fitness Business Association (PIBA) held a rally in front of the Democratic Party in Seoul to urge the deregulation of the indoor sports facility business.

As the backlash of self-employed people, whose livelihoods were pushed to the edge of the cliff, continued, hoping on the back, and the church demanded the permission of face-to-face worship, asking to guarantee’religious freedom’. At 11:30 am on that day, about 100 members from all over the country flocked to the square in front of Seegero Church in Gangseo-gu. The event was hosted by the Christian Federation of 226 cities, guns and gus in 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide. Seegero Church held a face-to-face service in August last year, and was accused of it six times by the city of Busan. After that, they continued non-face-to-face worship for a while, and on the 3rd and 6th of this month, they held face-to-face worship again. Regarding this, the head of the Gangseo-gu Office’s Culture and Sports Section, Lee Jeong-hwa, warned, “If we conduct face-to-face worship, we will take measures such as suspension of operation.”
