When attempting to sexually assault a drunken woman failed, a taxi driver who falsely accused the woman was sentenced to prison.

On the 23rd, the 11th Criminal Division of the Jeonju District Law (presiding judge Kang Dong-won) sentenced a taxi driver, A (44), to three years in prison, charged with attempted quasi-rape and innocence. In addition, it was ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and to restrict employment for children and youth-related institutions and welfare facilities for the disabled for five years.

On the night of April 24, Mr. A tried to sexually assault B (48, female) in his taxi on a road in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk, and was charged with false accusations against the woman. It was investigated that Mr. A picked up Mr. B, who had become uncomfortable, and wandered around for about 3 hours before stopping the car in a quiet place and attempting sexual assault.

Mr. B, who had shaken his hand and ran out of the taxi, ran away with a taxi when Mr. A followed him from the taxi. Mr. B was driving a distance of about 50km on the highway with 0.15% blood alcohol concentration and stopped only after hitting a 3.5t truck.

Mr. A later sued, “A drunk passenger drove my taxi and ran away and hit me.” The case seemed to end with Mr. B’s deviance, but it reversed sharply as Mr. B stated that he was “almost raped by a taxi driver.”

Through an investigation, the police captured the situation of A’s attempted sexual assault, and also revealed that the taxi black box was removed and damaged to cover up the case. The prosecution, who took over the case from the police, prosecuted Mr. A, and his charges of drunk driving were suspended.

The judge emphasized, “If you look at the evidence submitted by the prosecution, the defendant’s DNA is confirmed in parts of the victim’s body and clothes,” and emphasized that “It is acknowledged that the defendant tried to commit a crime against the victim.” He added, “It is inevitable that the crime was committed against the victim who boarded the taxi, and the victim wanted punishment by the defendant.” However, taking into account the fact that the defendant admits the crime and has no previous record of punishment. I decided on an older brother.”
