Officials from the Israel Nature Parks Authority said the cause of the whale’s death was unclear, but said nearby seawater was contaminated with tar.
Israeli Nature Parks Director Shaulgoldstein commented on the’tar pollution’ incident in the eastern Mediterranean waters, and said that those responsible for the pollution should be investigated and prosecuted.
The Morris Khan Marine Research Institute said it plans to investigate the cause of death by collecting specimens from whale carcasses.
