Neo QLED… Highest picture quality with three new technologies
Next-generation micro LED TV, expanded to 80-99 inches following 110 inches
Various TVs tailored to various lifestyles… Reflect new trends
“We will pioneer a screen for all era that reflects the lives of more diverse people and protects the future and environment of all of us.”
Han Jong-hee, head of Samsung Electronics’ video display business division (President), said this through the screen at the Samsung First Look event, which celebrated its 9th anniversary this year. This year’s First Look was conducted online, such as CES 2021, which opened online for the first time ever due to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
First Look is a kind of TV version unpack (un-pack) event organized by Samsung Electronics to introduce new technologies and new products related to TV every year, and to share with consumers where future displays are going.
◇ The first mini LED TV… ‘Neo QLED’ located at the top of QLED
Neo QLED realized the best picture quality through three technologies. The first is to adopt’Quantum Mini LED’, which has been reduced in size by one 40th compared to the LED element used as a conventional backlight, and a’micro layer’ is applied to the LED element to reduce the element size while allowing precise light control. .
The second is’Quantum Matrix Technology’. The brightness of the quantum mini LED used as a backlight is finely adjusted to 12 bits (4096 steps). In addition, the backlight power control effectively distributes power according to the screen brightness, and more local dimming (a technology that freely adjusts the brightness of a specific location) is precisely adjusted to achieve the industry’s highest contrast ratio and black detail. This is Samsung Electronics’ explanation.
Neo QLED has a thin but beautiful design by applying’Infinity One Design’. The 8K model, the top product, maximizes the sense of immersion because the frame thickness is so thin that it is hardly visible. The sound is also applied with AI technology to analyze the space where the TV is installed, providing optimized sound, and’moving sound’ in which the sound moves along the speaker according to the movement of objects in the video. In addition,’Q-Symphony’, which produces a three-dimensional sound by using the TV speaker and the speaker of the sound bar at the same time, was also installed.
Neo QLED will be released in 8K and 4K, and will be introduced in the global market sequentially from the first quarter.
◇ Expansion of next-generation micro LED TV products… TVs tailored to various lifestyles are also introduced
Samsung Electronics announced that it will introduce the 110-inch micro LED TV, which was first introduced in Korea in December last year, to the world stage, and that it will also introduce 99-inch products from March to April. Furthermore, 70~80 inch products are also aiming to be introduced within the year.
In addition, Samsung Electronics has newly launched’The Frame’,’The Serif’,’The Sero’,’The Premiere’, and’The Terrace’. It also unveiled new products from various TV lineups that reflect the growing trend.
Among them,’The Frame’, which decorates the house like an art gallery, and’The Premier’, which provides the best home cinema experience, received the CES 2021 Innovation Award. The new product of’The Vertical’ incorporates smart functions so that you can enjoy mobile contents such as YouTube and TikTok with many vertical videos more conveniently.
◇’Screen for All’ vision that focuses on people
The people-centered screen for all vision emphasized in Samsung First Look is not only the best screen experience, but also a commitment to contribute to a sustainable future.
It also revealed a willingness to improve accessibility. Samsung Electronics plans to provide a more free viewing experience to users with visual and visual disabilities.
