Myanmar media reported that 91 people died in 40 cities in Myanmar within a day on the 27th (local time), the’Myanmar Army Day’, recording the’worst day of military and police suppression’.

According to local media such as Now in Myanmar, the military and police indiscriminately fired at the unarmed citizens who had flocked to the streets shouting’overthrow the military dictatorship’, killing 91 people. It recorded the highest number of victims on a daily basis since the military coup on the 1st of last month.

Myanmar Now reported, “On Myanmar Army Day, the military panicked the citizens. Deaths occurred nationwide in Yangon, Mandalay, Sagaing, Bago, Magwe, and Kachin.

On that day, large-scale street protests criticizing military coups took place in Yangon, the largest city, and other parts of Myanmar.

Protesters began protests on the street, calling it’Myanmar Army Day’ as the original name’Day of Resistance’.

‘Myanmar Army Day’ is a’Resistance Day’ commemorating the day Myanmar began armed resistance against the Japanese forces that occupied it during World War II in 1945. Since then, after the military government came to power in a coup in 1962, the name was changed to’Myanmar Army Day’.

On local social media, scenes of military and police indiscriminately shooting at pedestrians, cars, and motorcycles are being uploaded one after another, creating resentment.

On social media, there were pictures and videos of children who were shot and bleed. In one video, a man cries out, “my son is dead,” holding a drooping child in a car, while a photo of a bandaged boy hit by a rubber bullet and a bandage spread rapidly, causing anger.
