Pouch “The US may not need AstraZeneca vaccine”
Seven people have been confirmed to have died of blood clots after receiving the AstraZeneca corona 19 vaccine in the UK, but UK health authorities insist that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe.
According to BBC broadcasting on the 3rd (local time), the UK Medicines and Health Care Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) announced that blood clots were reported in 30 of the 18 million people who received the vaccine by the 24th of last month.
Of these, 7 died from blood clots and 22 developed cerebral sinus thrombosis (CVST). However, the BBC noted, “It is not yet clear whether it is just a coincidence or a real side effect of the vaccine.”
Research is ongoing as to whether the Astrezeneca vaccine causes rare blood clots. The controversy over the AstraZeneca vaccine causing blood clots has been raised, but the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) agree that the benefits of vaccination outweigh these risks.
Earlier, on the 31st of last month, EMA said in a statement that “in the cases of blood clots reported after vaccinating AZ’s COVID-19 vaccine, risk factors related to age, sex and previous medical history were not identified. It goes beyond that risk,” he stressed.
On the other hand, the US, where vaccines such as Pfizer and Modena are rapidly spreading, are not expected to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine. Anthony Pouch, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) said in a recent interview with Reuters, “The United States may not need the Corona 19 vaccine made by AstraZeneca.”
