The number of new coronavirus infections in Korea (Corona 19) per day surpassed 600 for two consecutive days, causing an emergency to the quarantine authorities. Group infections are also continuing, and the spark of re-proliferation has not extinguished.
The Central Defense Response Headquarters announced that as of 0 o’clock on the 17th, there were 621 new corona19 confirmed patients as of the previous day. There were 6 additional deaths and the average fatality rate in Korea was 1.80%.
The number of new corona19 confirmed cases has risen to 600 for two consecutive days since the 17th. During the last week, the number of new confirmed cases per day was 403 → 362 → 326 → 343 (it was initially announced as 344 and then corrected) → 457 → 621 → 621. The average number of confirmed cases per day for the last week (February 12-18) is 447.6.
Looking at the route of infection that day, there were 590 local outbreaks and 31 foreign inflows, of which 432 confirmed cases occurred in the metropolitan area, including 237 in Gyeonggi, 179 in Seoul and 16 in Incheon. Nationally, 17 new cases have been confirmed.
There were 31 confirmed overseas inflows, the same as the previous day. Twelve of the confirmed cases were confirmed during quarantine at the airport or port. The remaining 19 were positive while self-isolation at residential or temporary living facilities in Seoul (6), Gwangju, Gyeonggi (4), Incheon, Gangwon, Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk (1 each).
The number of deaths increased by 6 from the previous day to 1,544. The average fatality rate in Korea is 1.80%. The number of patients with severe gastric disorders was 161, down by 8 from the previous day. The number of confirmed patients released from quarantine by this day was 75,896, up 536 from the previous day, and 8,127 patients are currently undergoing quarantine treatment.
To date, the number of tests conducted after reporting suspected patients with Corona 19 in Korea is 6.33,214, of which 6.46,927 were negative, and the remaining 7,720 are waiting for the results.
