The number of new confirmed cases of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Korea recorded 500, and the momentum of the’third pandemic’ declined in the new year. However, there is a situation that cannot be relieved as group infections have continued through religious facilities such as Jinju Prayer Center in Gyeongsangnam-do and BTJ World Center in Sangju, Gyeongbuk. The quarantine authorities are also releasing tensions, citing the increased risk of infection in local communities, epidemics in vulnerable facilities such as nursing homes, mutated viruses, and increased indoor life due to cold waves as four risk factors.

The Central Defense Response Headquarters announced that as of 0 o’clock on the 11th, the number of new corona19 confirmed cases was 537, an increase of 86 from the previous day. The additional death toll is 25 and the average fatality rate in Korea is 1.67%.
The momentum of the 3rd pandemic is showing a lull. In the last week, the number of new confirmed cases per day was 838 → 869 → 674 → 641 → 664 → 451 → 537. The average number of confirmed cases per day for the last week (January 6-12) is 663.6.
Looking at the route of infection that day, there were 508 local outbreaks and 29 foreign inflows, of which 346 confirmed cases in the metropolitan area, including 163 in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and 20 in Incheon. Nationally, 17 new cases have been confirmed.

There were 29 confirmed cases of overseas inflow, 3 fewer than the previous day. Eight of the confirmed cases were confirmed during quarantine at the airport or port. The remaining 21 were tested positive while self-isolation at residential or temporary living facilities in Gyeonggi (12), Seoul (4), Chungnam (2), and Daegu, Incheon, and Jeonbuk (1 each).

To date, the number of tests performed after reporting suspected corona19 patients in Korea is 48,044,085, of which 4,57,664 were negative, and the remaining 18,6,770 awaiting results.
