The publicly disclosed personal information includes the phone number, ID, name, place of residence, birthday, history, and e-mail address of Facebook users in 106 countries. Overseas media Business Insider said it was consistent with actual users as a result of verifying some of the leaked personal information.

In a statement, Facebook said, “This data was reported a very long time ago, and the related problem was discovered in August 2019 and a security vulnerability was fixed.”

However, the security industry explains that even years old data is useful to cybercriminals. “The leaked personal information seems to be the same as the Facebook phone number that has been circulating among hackers since January this year,” said Alan Gall, the founder of cybercrime information company Hudson Rock. I can,” he warned.

Alan Gall said, “It is difficult for Facebook to deal with the data that has already been leaked in terms of security,” he said. “Facebook sends a notice to users to be careful not to be phished or scammed.”

Meanwhile, Facebook has been controversial by intentionally leaking the personal information of 87 million voters to Cambridge Analytics, a data company affiliated with the presidential candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
