The family members of the Sewol ferry decided to stop the protests held in front of the Blue House. It’s been 477 days. It is a position that the candlelight assembly will continue every Saturday.

On the 1st, the 4 16th Sewol Issue Disaster Family Council held a press conference in front of the Blue House fountain and said, “There are few things that have been accepted among the president’s demands such as expressing and fulfilling the promise of finding the truth.” He said, “There is a role to find out.”

They expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the special investigation team of the prosecution, which had re-invested the suspicion of the Sewol ferry. The special group launched in November 2019 and ended its activities on the 19th of last month by prosecuting 20 people in the process of investigating 17 allegations related to the Sewol ferry disaster, and withholding 15 cases. The late Im Gyeong-bin’s rescue delay, the early investigation of the Sewol ferry in the Blue House, and the surviving family’s inspections were dismissed without charges. In particular, the suspicion of’AIS track manipulation’, which caused great controversy, was also judged as unfounded.

The bereaved family said, “Along with the Blue House, the Democratic Party should first apologize to us for the results of the investigation by Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol,” and said, “The president’s will to investigate the truth remains unchanged.” Can you believe it?”

Im Gun’s mother, Jeon In-suk, said, “In the former regime, we could have fasted, shaved, spoken out, and fought, but the regime changed by fighting would only torture hope and say’I’ll wait’.’

Chun has been doing homeless farming for 89 days. On the 22nd of last month, the survivors also held a shaving ceremony criticizing the results of the investigation by the Special Forces. The family council said it plans to hold candles and pickets around the Blue House every Saturday evening.
