‘4 confirmed’ Samsung Electronics Gwangju factory emergency… Refrigerator sparks on compressor hitch

There was an emergency, such as fears of operational disruption as confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) emerged one after another at large business sites in Gwangju, which had been quiet for a while.

According to the city of Gwangju on the 19th, three of the four new corona19 confirmed cases that occurred the day before (Gwangju 1971-1974) were confirmed as employees of Samsung Electronics’ Gwangju 3rd plant.

These are the co-workers of the confirmed case one day earlier, and were confirmed by the full test of Corona 19 on more than 400 people.

As the Corona 19 test has not yet finished, there is a possibility that additional confirmed cases will emerge.

This factory is a place that makes compressors (compressors), one of the core parts of refrigerators and water heaters.

The problem is that if the 3rd plant’s shutdown is prolonged, the refrigerator line will have to stop.

Even if production is continued centering on the models with remaining stock, the stock volume is inevitably bottomed out in about 3 days.

The third plant completely stopped operating the plant for the second day following the previous day and began intensive quarantine work.

At the first factory in Gwangju, which produces refrigerators, a confirmed patient came out at the end of November last year, and the operation was suspended for three days.

An official at Samsung Electronics’ Gwangju plant said, “All employees of the factory are being tested for Corona 19 and are in self-quarantine at home.”

The official added, “Currently, the refrigerator line is operating normally, and the third plant also plans to minimize operational disruptions through overtime work.”
