Reports of adverse reactions to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine were received in 4 new cases a day. According to the Central Defense Countermeasure Headquarters (Bang Dae-bon) on the 2nd, all 4 people who reported adverse reactions the day before were vaccinated with AstraZeneca (AZ). In these cases, it was confirmed that this is a common mild case after vaccination, and so far, there have been no cases of suspicion of serious adverse reactions.

As a result, cumulative adverse reactions increased to 156 cases after the start of vaccination on the 26th of last month. As of 0 o’clock on this day, it accounts for about 0.68% of the 23,086 inoculations.

In the case of AstraZeneca, the rate of reporting adverse reactions by vaccine type was 155 out of 22,191 cumulative vaccinations, which is 0.7%. For Pfizer vaccine, 1 out of 895 cumulative vaccinations (0.11%) reported suspected adverse reactions. This difference seems to be due to the cumulative number of AstraZeneca vaccinations far exceeding those of Pfizer vaccinations.

The reported symptoms of adverse reactions were fever above 38 degrees, muscle pain, headache, nausea, chills, and dizziness, all of which were confirmed as mild cases. Adverse reactions can be common in the immunity-building process of a person vaccinated with any type of vaccine. Pain, headache, muscle pain, fatigue, chills, joint pain, and redness are common cases, and most of the symptoms disappear within 3 days. The quarantine authorities announced a policy to actively monitor adverse reactions that may occur following the introduction of a new vaccine by introducing various surveillance systems.

On the other hand,’anaphylaxis (severe whole body allergic reaction)’, which is accompanied by shock, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, and swelling of the lips and mouth, is the most worrying side effect after vaccination. To date, there has been no case of anaphylaxis among inoculations.

Anaphylaxis occurred in 11.1 per 1 million people in the Pfizer vaccine group and 2.4 people in the Modena vaccine group as a result of the corona 19 vaccine clinical trial, and there was no case in the AstraZeneca clinical trial. As such, the incidence of anaphylaxis is very low. However, if it does occur, it usually occurs within 30 minutes after vaccination, so the authorities stay at the vaccination institution for about 30 minutes after vaccination, observe the symptoms, and guide them to return home.
