Analysts say that this is because there are many cases of companies that could no longer withstand due to the accumulation of damage due to the prolonged Corona 19, closing their doors or sending out employees.

On the 16th, Yonhap News analyzed microdata of the Statistical Office’s Economically Active Population Survey, and the number of employed in the lodging and restaurant business last month was 1965,000, down 367,000 from a year ago.
Last month is the first time that the number of employed in the lodging and restaurant business fell below 2 million since February last year, when the Corona 19 incident began.
Whenever the Corona 19 epidemic came, the decline in the number of employed people in the lodging and restaurant business compared to the same month last year tended to increase.
In March last year, the number of people affected by the first epidemic decreased by 109,000 and by 212,000 in April. In September and October of the same year when the second epidemic was affected, 225,000 and 227,000 people decreased, respectively.
In December of last year, when the 3rd epidemic was affected, 313,000 people fell, and in January this year, 367,000 people fell, and the decline increased to 300,000.
Another face-to-face service industry, wholesale and retail, also showed similar trends.
The decline in wholesale and retail employment from 168,000 and 123,000 in March and April of last year increased to 207,000 and 188,000 in September and October, respectively.
In December of last year and January of this year, the number increased to 197,000 and 218,000, respectively.
Lee Sang-min, a professor at Hanyang University, said, “The longer Corona 19 is, the more often marginal companies collapse or reduce employment.” It is estimated to be there,” he said.

◇ Face-to-face service industry was hit hard by hiring temporary workers in their 20s and 50s
Last month, the number of employees in their twenties and fifties, which decreased in the lodging/restaurant business and wholesale/retail business, showed that there were many temporary workers.
A total of 585,000 employees, including 367,000 in the lodging and restaurant business and 218,000 in the wholesale and retail business, decreased. By age, 20s were the most.
The number of employed in their twenties decreased by 104,000 in the lodging and restaurant business and 64,000 in the wholesale and retail business, a total decrease of 168,000.
After that, the 50s fell a lot. The number of employed in their 50s decreased by 82,000 in the lodging and restaurant business and 79,000 in the wholesale and retail business, a total decrease of 161,000.
Then, the number of employed in the lodging/restaurant business and wholesale/retail business decreased significantly in their 40s (-147,000 people), 60 years old (-33,000 people), and 30s (-29,000 people).
By employment status, the decrease in temporary workers was particularly significant.
The number of temporary workers decreased by 165,000 in the lodging and restaurant business and 68,000 in the wholesale and retail business, for a total of 233,000.
Subsequently, the number of regular workers decreased by 104,000 (69,000 in accommodation and restaurant business, 36,000 in wholesale and retail business), and 97,000 daily workers (71,000 in lodging and restaurant business, 26,000 in wholesale and retail business). Decreased.
Among the self-employed, the number of self-employed with employees decreased by 68,000 (lodging and restaurant business 37,000, wholesale and retail business 32,000).
The number of self-employed, without employees, decreased by 16,000, the accommodation and restaurant business increased by 2,000, and the wholesale and retail business by 18,000.
