As the’third pandemic’ of Corona 19 in Korea continues, the number of new confirmed cases on the 5th was 300.
By more than 80 people from the previous day, it fell below 400 again in three days after the last two days (336).
Until now, the government has suppressed the occurrence of patients through high-intensity quarantine measures such as “social distancing” (2.5 steps in the metropolitan area, 2 steps in the non-metropolitan area) and banning meetings with more than 5 people. It’s an uneasy situation that can spread.
In particular, the quarantine authorities are closely tense as the possibility of a ‘4th epidemic’ in the spring is being discussed, even as cases of group infections caused by foreign mutant viruses, which are known to have stronger spreading power, have come out.
351 people in the region… 257 people in the metropolitan area, 94 people in the non-metropolitan area
The Central Defense Response Headquarters (Bang Dae-bon) announced that as of 0 o’clock on the day, the number of new corona 19 confirmed cases in Korea increased by 370, accumulating 8,131.
81 people decreased from the previous day (451).
The cumulative confirmed cases exceeded 80,000 in one year and 16 days after the first confirmed case in Korea on January 20, 2020. It has only been 23 days since it climbed to the 70,000 level on the 13th of last month (7197 people).
The 3rd pandemic, which started in earnest since mid-November last year, showed a modest decline this year, but recently, the number of new confirmed cases has increased again, showing an uneasy pattern.
During the last week (1.30-2.5), the number of new confirmed cases per day was 456 → 354 (it was initially announced as 355 and then corrected) → 305 → 336 → 467 → 451 → 370. During this period, 300 units were numbered four times and 400 units were numbered three times.
Looking at the infection route of the new confirmed patients on this day, 351 local outbreaks and 19 foreign inflows.
In the area where confirmed cases were found, 257 were in the metropolitan area, including 122 in Seoul, 110 in Gyeonggi, and 25 in Incheon.
In the non-capital area, there were 33 in Busan, 14 in each of Daegu and Gwangju, 11 in each of Chungnam, 6 in each of Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam, 5 in Gangwon, 3 in Chungbuk, and 2 in Jeju. There were a total of 94 confirmed cases in the non-metropolitan area.
In the case of major infections, new infections have occurred in everyday spaces such as medical institutions and workplaces.
A total of 12 confirmed patients, including patients and staff, were confirmed at a rehabilitation hospital in Jung-gu, Busan, and three policemen were confirmed at the Seoul Dongdaemun Police Station.
In addition, group infections related to a hospital in Gwanak-gu, Seoul (accumulated 17), a customs service company in Jung-gu, Incheon (18), and a trading company in Yeonsu-gu (15) were also confirmed.

There were 19 confirmed overseas inflows, 3 fewer than the previous day (22).
Of these, seven were confirmed during quarantine at the airport or port. The remaining 12 were tested positive while self-isolation at residential or temporary living facilities in Seoul/Gyeonggi (4 each), Chungnam (2), and Incheon/Gyeongbuk (1 each).
Estimated countries for these inflows are three in the United States, two in each of Kazakhstan, Poland, and Nigeria, and one in each of India, Indonesia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Japan, Pakistan, Belgium, Mexico, Canada, and Egypt. Among the confirmed cases, 8 were Koreans and 11 were foreigners.
When local outbreaks and foreign inflows (excluding quarantine) are combined, there are 266 people in the metropolitan area, including 126 in Seoul, 114 in Gyeonggi, and 26 in Incheon. Nationally, new confirmed cases have emerged in 12 provinces excluding Daejeon, Ulsan, Sejong, Jeonbuk and Jeonnam.
The number of deaths increased by 11 from the previous day to 1,459 cumulative. The average fatality rate in Korea is 1.82%.
The number of patients with severe gastric disorders is 200, down 11 from the previous day.
By this day, the number of confirmed cases lifted from quarantine increased by 413 to a cumulative 7117. Currently, the number of patients undergoing isolation treatment has decreased by 54 to 8,555.
The number of corona 19 diagnostic tests conducted in Korea so far is a total of 58,487,178, of which 565,9590 were negative, and the remaining 10,7457 are waiting for the results.
The number of inspections per day the previous day was 40,803, 2,298 fewer than 46381 the day before.
The positive rate, calculated as compared to the number of tests the previous day, was 0.84% (370 out of 40,803), which was slightly lower than the previous day’s 0.97% (451 out of 46,381). The cumulative positive rate as of 0 o’clock on this day is 1.37% (83,131 out of 584,177).
On the other hand, on the 31st of last month, as one case of Oshingo in Seoul was discovered late, the cumulative number of confirmed cases as of the previous day was corrected from 79762 to 79761.
