In the last week (2.23~3.1), the number of new confirmed cases per day was 356 → 440 → 395 → 390 → 415 → 356 → 355. 300 were 5 times, and 400 were 2 times.
By infection route, local outbreaks were 338 and foreign inflows were 17. The number of confirmed regional outbreaks was 262 in the metropolitan area, including 156 in Gyeonggi, 92 in Seoul, and 14 in Incheon, and these areas accounted for 77.5% of the total local outbreaks. In the non-capital area, there are a total of 76 people, including 16 in Busan, 10 in each of Daegu, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongbuk, 8 in Chungbuk, 6 in Gwangju, 5 in Gangwon, 4 in Gyeongnam, 2 in Ulsan, Chungnam, Jeonnam, and 1 in Sejong.
As for the major new infection cases, there were cases of group infection through work, family, acquaintances, etc. In a studio in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, a total of 13 people, including acquaintances, were positive, and 10 people were confirmed in relation to a daycare center in Dongducheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. In Cheongju and Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, 5 and 3 family members were each confirmed.
In addition, there were also confirmed cases of existing group infections such as ▲Yeongsaenggyo School in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, and a training academy (accumulated 161 people) ▲Fitness center in Jeonju-si, Jeonbuk (44 people).
The number of confirmed overseas inflows was 17, down by 5 from the previous day (22). Five of the confirmed cases were confirmed during quarantine at the airport or port. The remaining 12 were positive while self-isolation at Gyeonggi (4), Gyeongbuk (3), Gwangju, Chungnam (2 each), and Gyeongnam (1) local residences or temporary living facilities. Estimated countries for these inflows are Pakistan, 3 people, Indonesia, Japan, the United States, and Morocco, 2 people each, and Nepal, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. Among the confirmed cases, 9 were Koreans and 8 were foreigners.
When local outbreaks and overseas inflows (excluding quarantine) are combined, there are 160 people in Gyeonggi, 92 people in Seoul, and 14 people in Incheon. Nationally, new confirmed cases came out in 15 provinces excluding Daejeon and Jeju.
The number of deaths increased by two from the previous day to 1605. The average fatality rate in Korea is 1.78%. The total number of patients with severe gastric disorders was 131, down by 4 from the previous day. By this day, the number of confirmed cases lifted from quarantine increased by 373 to 81070, and the number of patients receiving quarantine treatment decreased by 20 to a total of 7354.
The number of tests through the screening clinic the day before was 16,749, 5042 fewer than the 21,791 the day before. This is 22,103 fewer than the 31,8852 on the 26th of last month, which was the previous weekday.
The positive rate, calculated as compared to the number of tests the previous day, was 2.12% (355 out of 16,749), higher than 1.63% (356 out of 21,769) on the previous day. The cumulative positive rate as of 0 o’clock on this day is 1.35% (94,29 out of 6,656,553).
Meanwhile, Bang Dae-bon announced that the cumulative number of confirmed cases as of 0 o’clock the previous day was 8,9676, but it was corrected to 8,9674 on the 26th, excluding two confirmed false positives in the Gyeongbuk region.
The government took quarantine measures such as vaccination that started from the end of last month and the current’social distance’ (Seoul Metropolitan Area 2nd Stage, Non-Metropolitan Area 1.5 Stage) and banning private gatherings with more than 5 people to ensure that the new semester of elementary, middle and high schools nationwide this month. It has been extended until the 14th of this month.
