3 additional mutant infections from the UK, 15, “the first person with no overseas history”

The number of cases of a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) mutant virus that has been found in the UK and South Africa and is spreading around the world has increased to 15 with three additional cases in Korea. All three additionally confirmed this time are family members of self-quarantine, and are the first cases in which mutant viruses have been detected in those with no overseas history. Considering the concern for further transmission during the self-isolation process, experts have argued for quarantine of facilities for those entering dangerous countries, but the authorities have announced that they will implement such measures from the 12th.

The facility is quarantined from the 12th until a voice confirmation for those entering the UK, etc.

On the 7th, the Central Defense Response Headquarters of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that as of 0 o’clock on the day, three more people infected with the British mutant virus were confirmed. As a result, the number of mutant infections increased to 15 (14 from the UK and 1 from South Africa).

The three confirmed this time are the family of Mr. A in his 30s residing in Gyeonggi-do, where a mutant virus was detected on the 2nd in a battlefield genome analysis conducted after being confirmed on the 20th during self-isolation after entering the UK on the 19th of last month.

In the investigation of Mr. A’s contact, four family members were identified, and all four were self-quarantine from the 20th when Mr. A was confirmed. Two of them had symptoms and were confirmed after examination, and the other two were asymptomatic and tested positive. Afterwards, full-length genome analysis was also conducted on them, and mutant viruses were confirmed in three people on the 7th. The remaining one is also tested for mutations. In the case of Mr. A, there are no other contacts outside of the family, and seven of the passengers who flew with them were confirmed as negative as a result of the test.

The four members of the family are Mr. A’s parents and a younger brother. Mr. A has been quarantined at his brother’s house, authorities said. On the day Mr. A entered the country, all four people met Mr. A at the airport, and the authorities are aware that the radio wave occurred in the process of moving in the same vehicle.

Kwak-jin, head of the patient management team, Bang Dae-bon, said, “It is presumed that it is spread between families.” These three people do not have a history of traveling abroad, but this is the first case of being infected with the mutant virus.

The possibility of additional contacts cannot be ruled out.
The authorities explained that Mr. A’s family was quarantined from the 20th when Mr. A was confirmed, and that there was no contact, but after contacting Mr. A on the 19th, until the fact that Mr. A was confirmed on the 20th, did they have any history of outside activities, Investigation is still underway as to whether there is any.

As the influx of mutant viruses in Korea is increasing, and additional cases of infection from family members living together during self-isolation, the authorities announced that they would strengthen measures against Buryaburya. Starting on the 12th, even if they submit a negative confirmation form, they will be sent to a temporary living facility instead of their home for a diagnostic test, and the facility will be quarantined until the negative is confirmed. This is a measure for both domestic and foreign nationals. If there is no negative confirmation, Koreans will be quarantined and tested for 14 days in temporary living facilities, and foreigners will be banned from entering the country at all.

Kwon Jun-wook, head of the 2nd vice president of Bang Dae-bon, said, “There is a need for improvement because there is a deficit in the management of overseas immigration. He said, “We plan to conduct a diagnostic test at a temporary living facility and take quarantine measures at the facility until negative is confirmed.” “We are also considering additional measures,” he said.

Experts have previously insisted on quarantine of such facilities, pointing out that it is a countermeasure against North Korea. Kim Woo-joo, a professor of infectious medicine at Korea University’s Guro Hospital, said, “When a problem arises, we take a step or two late. What I’m going to stop with a hoe, I use phlegm.”
Professor Kim emphasized that people should also be checked for mutant infections that may have spread in the community.

Prof. Kim Woo-joo said, “I am only looking at the immigrants, but in the meantime, I may miss the possibility of the spread of mutant infections in the country.” Even if 5-10% of confirmed infected patients were randomly selected last month and this month, full-length genome analysis should be conducted on these targets, and if the mutant infected person is already in, the distance strategy should be tighter.”
