Three additional confirmed cases of mutant virus, which are more contagious than the existing coronavirus infection (Corona 19), were discovered.

All of them were confirmed in the quarantine stage, and the country of departure was one each in Hungary, Poland, and Ghana. Bang Daebon said that there have been no cases of mutant virus infection among those who have contacted them.

However, two passengers who used the same aircraft as the infected person who sat in adjacent seats were confirmed to be corona 19, and are currently being tested for mutant infection.

A total of 54 cases of mutant virus infection have been confirmed in Korea. There were 40 mutations from the UK, 9 from South Africa, and 5 from Brazil.

In relation to the case of group infection with relatives of Syrians in Gyeongnam and Jeollanam-do, where a total of 38 people were diagnosed with Corona 19, Bang Dae-bon said that no additional test results have yet been released. Four of these infected people were confirmed to have been infected with the mutant virus in the first test, and the remaining 34 are currently being tested.

With the increase in the number of mutant infections, the government decided to strengthen quarantine management for foreign immigrants.

Starting on the 22nd, it will be mandatory for all arriving from Africa, including Koreans, to submit a’negative confirmation’ for a gene amplification (PCR) test. It also plans to conduct PCR tests in temporary living facilities after entering the country. Starting on the 15th, quarantine exemptions will also be required to submit a voice confirmation letter upon entry.
