It has been 77 days since November 23 (271) last year, when the number of new confirmed cases reached 200, in the early stages of the third pandemic.

However, the decrease in the number of confirmed cases on this day also reflects the effect of the decrease in the number of holiday tests, so it is too early to judge that the spread has completely stopped.

In fact, despite the overall decrease in patients, there are still signs of re-proliferation, especially in the metropolitan area, and there are concerns that the size of confirmed cases may increase at any time as the Lunar New Year holidays (2.11-14), when a large population movement is expected, are ahead.

◇ 264 local outbreaks… 207 people in the metropolitan area, 57 people in the non-metropolitan area

The Central Defense Response Headquarters (Bang Dae-bon) announced that as of 0 o’clock on the day, the number of new corona 19 confirmed cases in Korea increased by 289, accumulating 81,185 people.

83 people decreased from the previous day (372 people).

The 3rd pandemic, which began in earnest from mid-November last year, showed a gradual decline this year, but at the end of last month, due to the aftermath of group infection in various places including IM Mission, it soared to 500 people for a while, but passed 400 people and 300 people to 200 on that day.

The number of new confirmed cases per day for the last week (2.2 to 8) was 336 → 467 → 451 → 370 → 393 → 372 → 289. During this period, 200 units are numbered 1, 300 units are numbered 4, and 400 units are number 2.

Looking at the infection route of the new confirmed patients on this day, 264 local outbreaks and 25 foreign inflows.

The number of confirmed cases was 207 in the metropolitan area, including 111 in Seoul, 79 in Gyeonggi, and 17 in Incheon.

In the non-capital area, there are 20 people in Daegu, 7 people in each of Busan and Gwangju, 5 people in each of Chungnam and Gyeongbuk, 4 people in each of Daejeon, Gangwon, and Gyeongnam, and 1 person in Sejong. There were a total of 57 confirmed cases in the non-metropolitan area.

As for major infection cases, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to sports facilities in Seodaemun-gu increased to 16 in Seoul the day before, and the number of confirmed cases related to restaurants in Gwangjin-gu also increased to 69.

Also, in the Gyeonggi area, the epidemiological link between the case of mass infection in the sauna in Yanyang City, the wholesale business in the metropolitan area, and the case of Hoengseong Hospital in Gangwon-do was confirmed, and the cumulative number of three cases was 34.

In the non-metropolitan area, there were cases of new outbreaks, such as a village in Cheongyang-gun, Chungnam (accumulated 8 people), a family member in Buk-gu, Daegu (8 people), a business site No. 2 in Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do (5 people), and a nursing facility in Haeundae-gu, Busan (5 people).

The number of confirmed overseas inflows was 25, down by 21 from the previous day (46).

Nine of these were confirmed during quarantine at the airport or port. The remaining 16 were tested positive while self-isolation at residential or temporary living facilities in Chungnam (5), Gyeonggi (4), Busan (2), Seoul, Daegu, Incheon, Ulsan, and Gyeongbuk (1 each). .

When local outbreaks and overseas inflows (excluding quarantine) are combined, 213 people in the metropolitan area, including 112 in Seoul, 83 in Gyeonggi, and 18 in Incheon. Nationally, new confirmed cases have emerged in 13 provinces excluding Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, and Jeju.

The number of deaths increased by 3 from the previous day to 1,474 cumulatively. The average fatality rate in Korea is 1.82%.

The number of patients with severe gastric disorders was 188, down 2 from the previous day.

The number of inspections per day the previous day was 21,222, 2,400 fewer than the 2,3,622 the day before. It is 24,000,953 fewer than the 46,000 on the 5th, the last weekday just before.

The positive rate, calculated as compared to the number of tests the previous day, was 1.36% (289 out of 21,222), down from 1.57% (372 out of 23,622) the day before. As of 0 o’clock on this day, the cumulative positive rate was 1.37% (81,185 out of 593,197).
