Q. Why did Jeong Hong-il, who was active based on the region, come to the public through’Singer Gain’?
A. Actually, I have been thinking that I am a singer who does not match with the audition. But my sister-in-law sometimes recommends me to go to the audition program. One day, I gave a poster for recruiting applicants for’Singer Gain’, but when I substituted titles such as’Finding the hidden master’ and’The person who released the album’, I thought I could participate without any burden. In fact, when I went to the first audition for’Singer Gain’, I felt a trembling that wasn’t there in my life (laughs).
Q. What kind of program is’Singer Gain’ for singer Jung Hong-il?
A. As rock, which used to be popular music in the past, became mania music, I also became a mania singer. So, when I first participated in’Singer Gain’, I guessed that’I don’t think people will like my voice’. However, in the reaction of the first round, I felt an unexpected feeling. ‘Singer Gain’ is creating a moment of revolution. The rock genre is creating a new revolution in which it can be seen publicly.
Q. What kind of singer has been Jeong Hong-il?
A. I am a singer who worked on a small local basis. Over a long period of time, I thought a lot about the role that local singers should play. My fame didn’t matter. In the area where I sang, there are people who breathe together even on a small stage and always cheer for me. I hope there will be a warm home to be with them even when they return to their place after’Singer Gain’ is over.
Q. The stage of’A Flower That Can’t Fully Bloom’ in the TOP10 deciding match became singer Jung Hong-il’s signature scene. It was even more topical that it was a mistake, not a directing?
A. Actually, I was worried about the stage I saw because I wasn’t able to distribute the time well during the rehearsal. So that kind of mistake came out during this contest. Fortunately, everyone enjoyed the scene.
Q. Only the finals remain. I think there will be extra resolution.
A. In the meantime, I felt like’I’m not enjoying it’. It’s a contest, so you have to put a lot of energy into one song and one stage. This time I want to perform with the mind of’Look at my stage’ rather than a contest. I think that the viewers are the audience and I try to work on it.
