As of 1 pm on the 5th, the city of Busan announced that 29 new corona19 confirmed patients were added, and the cumulative number of patients in Busan was 2045.

Eight of the new confirmed cases came from the Bluesae Senior Citizens’ Health Center in Yeongdo-gu. As 5 additional residents of the center and 3 additional employees were confirmed, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the center became Monu 55 (39 residents, 16 employees). At Cheil Nara Nursing Hospital, one patient and one employee were added, and the number of related cumulative confirmed cases became 59 (44 patients, 13 employees, and 2 related contacts).

A child at the daycare center was also confirmed. After the daycare worker was diagnosed, an examination was conducted on the graduates and faculty members, and one employee and one graduate were confirmed.

Five cases were confirmed after receiving medical treatment due to suspicious symptoms, and the route of infection was not known. Most of the remaining new cases were family-related infections.

Four more people died. With the death of 3 people in the afternoon on the 4th and 1 in the morning on the 5th, the cumulative death toll in Busan was 63.

Meanwhile, in Busan City, 267 confirmed cases occurred for a week from December 29th last year to 4th of this month, and 38.1 of the average daily were confirmed. The death toll during this period was 14. The infection reproductive index was 0.84, recording 1.94 at the end of November last year and maintaining 0.8 units from mid-December. If the reproductive index of infection is below 1, it is possible to evaluate that the spread of the infection is declining.

Ahn Byung-seon, head of the Welfare and Health Bureau of Busan City, said, “If everyone follows the quarantine rules well and early prevention is possible through preemptive inspection of high-risk facilities, infection control will be possible.” Reporter Baeksang Kim [email protected]
