27.9 billion won this year for R&D of eco-friendly electric and hydrogen vehicles and autonomous vehicles

A total of 13.4 billion electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles, a total of 14.5 billion autonomous driving 13 projects

[에너지데일리 조남준 기자] A total of KRW 13.4 billion for 11 new projects this year to secure core technologies for eco-friendly electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles, and KRW 27.9 billion for a total of 24 projects, including 13 new projects and a total of KRW 14.5 billion to become a global technological powerhouse in the autonomous driving industry.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Sung Yun-mo) announced on the 26th that it will start supporting new R&D projects in 2021 to develop core parts technology for eco-friendly electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles and to become a global technological powerhouse in the autonomous driving industry.

According to this, 27.9 billion won will be invested and supported for a total of 24 projects as new R&D projects for five projects this year in order to enhance the corporate competitiveness and sustainable growth of automobile companies by securing core technologies for future vehicles such as electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles.

First, for the early opening of the era of popularization of electric vehicles, 13.4 billion won will be invested in 11 projects to support the development of safe and convenient electric and hydrogen car parts with consumer-centered self-sustaining market competitiveness.

10.4 billion won will be provided for eight projects in four fields, including energy storage technology, driving and power conversion technology, air conditioning and thermal management technology, and hydrogen fuel cell technology, which are key technologies for electric and hydrogen vehicles.

In order to increase the mileage of electric vehicles, we support the development of lightweight technology for battery packs corresponding to vehicle weight reduction. In addition, it supports the development of thermal management technology for battery packs that respond to rapid charging/high output to secure core technologies for air conditioning and thermal management.

In addition, R&D funding will be provided for the development of high-efficiency electric compressor technology to improve cooling and heating performance and proximity air conditioning technology to maximize the thermal comfort of passengers.

In addition, in order to enhance the competitiveness of large-sized hydrogen commercial vehicles, it focuses on technology to secure the durability of fuel cell stacks, technology to improve the performance of large-sized hydrogen storage containers for hydrogen electric vehicles, and to reduce prices, technology for high-pressure high-flow elements for hydrogen storage systems, and technology for reducing hydrogen charging time. I plan to apply.

The use of batteries for electric vehicles is expected to increase rapidly, and batteries installed in electric vehicles are for vehicles and have a residual value even after the end of their lifespan, so 3 billion won is invested in three projects to create added value through the reuse of electric vehicle batteries.

We plan to develop residual value analysis technology, reusable battery model development, and reusable battery applicability evaluation/verification technology for utility as storage devices other than automobiles.

In the autonomous driving industry, a total of 84.7 billion won (14.5 billion won in 2009) was invested in three new projects in addition to the’autonomous driving technology development innovation project’, a joint preliminary project of four ministries announced on January 15th. It supports safety platform, △ securing core technology to provide multi-purpose convenience services and △ activating self-driving untact service.

The super safety platform is a project to develop multiple safety technologies and systems such as vehicle failure control, failure prediction, risk minimization, and emergency operation in preparation for international safety standards for autonomous vehicles. 5.8 billion won per year).

The self-driving multi-purpose convenience service is to develop and demonstrate technology to provide various services based on autonomous vehicles such as mobile offices, mobile game rooms, and live billboards in accordance with the advancement of autonomous driving functions of vehicles. KRW 100 million (3.9 billion KRW in 2009) is provided.

The Untact service is a project for the demonstration and commercialization of non-face-to-face services such as unmanned stores and healthcare based on a shared autonomous vehicle platform, and plans to support a total of 28.9 billion won (4.8 billion won in 2009) for five tasks.

This project is expected to promote the creation and commercialization of new sustainable markets by securing core technologies for electric and hydrogen vehicles and global leading technologies for autonomous vehicles.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, in addition to this new task, will support a total of 140.5 billion won in continuing projects for 94 future automobile R&D projects in 18 projects this year. It is planning to continue to seek out.
