[2021정시경쟁률] 71 schools that are virtually inferior to local universities.. 2.7 to 1 for the first time in history

209 units nationwide 3.6 to 1’fall’..17 units

[베리타스알파=권수진 기자] As a result of analyzing the national regular competition rate in 2021, it was found that the average of 209 units was 3.6 to 1. According to the analysis of the sky education at Jongno Academy, it fell from 4.6 to 1 last year. The number of undergraduate universities that could not fill the recruitment quota was also 17, an increase of 10 from 7 of the previous year. Among the universities located in the local area, 71 universities were also less competitive than 3-1. Considering the fact that on-time support is possible for a total of three times per group, the analysis is actually insufficient.

This year, the competition rate in both Seoul, metropolitan and regional areas fell, with the Seoul area being the highest at 5.1 to 1, the metropolitan area at 4.8 to 1, and the local area at 2.7 to 1. This is the first time that the average competition rate of local universities has fallen below 3:1. Seong-ho Lim, CEO of Jongno Academy’s Sky Education, said, “It is difficult to select universities in local areas at any time and even on time,” he said. “There is a situation where a large number of universities that cannot fill the capacity may occur. As the years go by, the centralization of universities in the Seoul metropolitan area may accelerate.”

The decline in the regular competition rate is steeping. The average of all universities has maintained a similar competition rate in the order of 5.1 to 1 in 2017, 5.1 to 1 in 2018, and 5.2 to 1 in 2019, followed by a drop this year in the order of 4.6 to 1 in 2020 and 3.6 to 1 in 2021.

When divided by region, there was a significant decline in local regions. The competition rate of local universities is 4.4 to 1 in 2016, 4.3 to 1 in 2017, 4.2 to 1 in 2018, 4.5 to 1 in 2019, 3.9 to 1 in 2020, 2.7 to 1 in 2021, except for the rebound in 2019. It is a steady decline. In particular, this year’s decline has been large from 3.9 to 1 last year to 2.7 to 1 this year.

In the case of universities in the Seoul area, except for a slight increase from 6.4 to 1 in 2017 to 6.5 to 1 in 2018, it fell in the order of 6.1 to 1 in 2019, 5.6 to 1 in 2020, and 5.1 to 1 in 2021.

The universities in the metropolitan area maintained their competition rate in the order of 6.4 to 1 in 2017, 6.5 to 1 in 2018, 6.5 to 1 in 2019, and then declined to 5.6 to 1 in 2020 and 4.8 to 1 in 2021.

This year’s drop in the regular competition rate shows that college freshmen shortages are in earnest due to the decrease in the school-age population. There are also observations that the unrecruitment of new students at the university could lead to the’Zul-closed school’. It becomes clearer when comparing the resources available for admission to college with the college admissions quota. In the case of 2019, the number of available college admissions was 52,6267, which was more than the 490,7218 college admissions in 2019, but from 2020 onwards, as the available resources continued to decrease, the college admissions quota could not be exceeded.

Compared to the 2019 college entrance quota of 49,7218, the number of students available for college admission in 2021 is 42,893, which is less than 73,325. University admission resources for 2022 graders 410,204 students (85,184 students short of the 2019 quota), 2023 students 40,913 students (less 9,305 students), 2024 grade 37,3470 students (12,3748 students short), 2025 The number of available resources for college students continues to decrease in the order of 3,76128 students in grade level (lack of 121090 students).

It is expected that the’Jul-gyo’ is expected, but some point out that countermeasures are insufficient. The educational authorities actually gave up the artificial reduction of university quotas and changed the policy stance to leave it to the market logic, but it is criticized that there is a lack of practical measures to induce school closure while minimizing the impact.

Among the universities located in the local area, 71 universities that did not exceed 3 to 1 except for shifts accounted for 57.3% of the 124 universities in the local area. CEO Lim Seong-ho explained, “It is recognized that frequent is advantageous to local universities, but in reality, universities located in local regions cannot be selected at any time, so they are selected on time, and there is a phenomenon of refusal to apply at regular time, making recruitment difficult.” .

In the order of universities in Seoul with the highest competition rate, Gyeonggi University (Seoul) 12.3:1, Chung-Ang University 10:1, Seokyeong University 8.8:1, Hongik University 8.2:1, and Soongsil University 6.9:1.

At universities in the metropolitan area, Pyeongtaek University was 8.1-1, Eulji University (Uijeongbu) 7-1, Incheon Catholic University 6.5-1, Gachon University (global) 6.5-1.
